How is he doing on the field? I haven't heard a single thing about him since football started. A couple years ago it seemed like every week J. Clowney was blowing up the stat line and people were talking about it.

Don't think so. I get the impression that there's too much mama drama with this one. Supposedly y'all are still recruiting him, though. I guess there's always a shot if you can get them on campus.

just to see if he was living up to the hype. The two games I saw there was a DT on his team outplay him every down. I only remember him being double teamed maybe a couple of times too. They also put him in at tailback in short yardage plays and he put the ball on the ground twice. After that I quit looking for their games.

I said this before you guys were "back in the mix". All the mama drama, and getting teammates extended a scholly at Clemson so he would commit there. I care less where he ends up, he won't be there for 4 years.

Until they can get decent guys at a position other than the DL

They can get every top DL in the country and it won't bother me. Since 2008, they've gotten commits from eight 4 or 5 star DL. Look how awesome their defense is from it and how many of those guys are in the NFL right now. They are giving up 152 yards rushing per game and 227 passing yards per game for a grand total of 379 total yards per game.

They are 11th in the SEC in scoring defense, 10th in total defense, 9th in rush defense, and 11th in pass defense. And regardless of who we've played, they've played Tulane, Central Arkansas, and UTEP. They suck way worse than the Troy, Jackson St, and South Alabama. I don't care that they've played Texas, Bama, and TAMU. There is no way we would give up 66 to Texas. That's just terrible.

Point is, getting all of these top notch DL like Carlos Thompson, Byron Bennett, Channing Ward, CJ, Wayne Dorsey, Delvin Jones, and Carlton Martin hasn't payed off yet. Now they will probably get Conner which helps them, but until they start figuring out how to get deeper classes, getting a few top guys isn't going to help them out.

Who gives a 17. Personally, I think it's still way to early to tell. It will be interesting to see where his heart is when Clemson, Bama, and all the other big schools are playing in NYD bowl games and OM is at home listening to Freeze tell Christmas stories.

Not so sure about this. Remember, Wayne Gallman and David Kamara, two of his closest friends have committed to play for Clemson. His mom and TSUN are the ones driving these decommit stories. She's the one behind getting him to visit TSUN as well. I can hear her saying it now, "Will you at least visit Ole Miss? ... Look, if you visit Ole Miss and still want to go to Clemson, I'll be OK with it."

I think State gets Conner. But UCA is way better than Jackson State and UTEP and USA are a push at best, with UTEP having 3 solid showings against BCS squads.

Regardless of where he ends up. Would I want him at State? Of course. I'd also be terrified he'd be a huge problem. The kid's already strong armed Clemson into signing his entire high school team, and now it's looking like he'll decommit. That's pretty ridiculous.

I'd pull em if I was them. I wouldn't be suckered by them to give a free ride to his buddies and then he leaves.

But hey. If UM reels him in, kudos to them. The offering of lil bro to lure him there would have worked and it turned out he was a solid college player too.

Schuessler is probably the only one it really effects...and he is walking on at Clemson anyway. Kamara and Gallman are good enough to earn scholarships on their own merit. Gallman is a 4* RB for goodness sake.

If he goes to Ole Miss, it also likely gets one additional of his HS buddies a scholarship at OM(they are the only ones big school that have offered him as a 2*). Rumor has it Kamara doesn't like OM and will stick with Clemson, and Gallman was committed there LONG before the RN drama really got up and going, so I don't see him as a part of any package deal. He can almost name his scholarship honestly...

This is just silly. Several of those 4* or better DL never lasted more than a year or were JUCO. Every good defense the last 10 years or more in the SEC has shown it starts up front on the DL. Alabama, LSU, UGA do it yearly. USC's defense has improved with their DL talent level. MSU's stingiest defenses have had great DLs. Ole Miss' 2008 and 2009 defenses had really good DLs. And so on and so forth.

This defense has several issues, but the biggest is DL talent. A 250 lbs freshman is starting at NT alongside a 235 lbs LB/DE with another freshman in the DE 2-deep. Players like Nkemdiche start immediately. If Freeze improves the DL talent, the D gets better and everything else is easier to fix. You demolished your own point about the DL with the 9th in rush defense statistic. That starts on the DL.

I honestly don't know if Freeze would take him. Freeze has proven that he can get the most out of less talented players. One bad apple could derail any progress that he has made so far. The worst part about it is that his brother, who is doing pretty well, is on the team.
Bama may be the only place that could actually get the most out of him since he would be just another stud in a stable full instead of a prima donna at Ole Massa. Selfishly though, I hope they get him. It would make the RSS seem like childs play.

When they visit Oxford? I'm sure they can pick out vehicles on the web or in their home town. Furniture has to be seen in person because its unique.

Agreed chew1095. I was laughing at what GutshotStr8 wrote. Freeze would turn down the #1 recruit in the country? Any school in the country would take this guy's signature in a heartbeat (including Bama, LSU, and Mississippi State).
