A win saturday will put us at 7-5 in the sec... say by some miracle we win out the rest of the season and pull a win over tennessee, would that be enough to get us in march madness? the only other half way respectable win in the rest of the season would be south carolina since they are the only team to be kentucky.. Can we make it still or are we already NIT bound.. if that..

If we win out and beat tennessee, we will be in the big dance. That would be 11-5 in SEC, finishing well in the last 10, quality wins over ODU, $#!%, TN, SC and probably would win the west. Now they might send us to Thailand to play but we'll be in.

but according to Doug Gotlieb's infinite wisdom we have to win out and go deep in the SEC tournament to get in...<div>
</div><div>He's just making rash statements because of his hatred for the SEC and Mississippi State. Never have I heard him say one good thing about us... Oh well...</div>

Winning out and winning at least one in Nashville would put us at 24-8. There is no way in hell we should have to go deep into the SECT to make the NCAAT in that scenario. Not to mention our RPI would easily be in the top 50 by that point. What a dubmass.

As bad as the Rider loss was, their RPI is at least a semi-respectible (for a mid-major) #140. LSU's is #214. And LSU has the RPI benefit of a tougher schedule than Rider does.

If our fair and impartial beat reporter was on a radio show rooting against us, then I was about to put him at the top of my **** list.

As it is, he'll just stay on the list. But, not at the top ... yet.

The Ninja is watching. He needs to be forced to hire an offensive assistant and let him run that side of the ball. It's not that hard to comprehend.

....I think that probably gets us in. We'd need to win a couple in Nashville to not be sweating on Sunday, though.

I heard the other day that they are no longer giving the selection committee members a "Last 12" stat on each team's resume. They can obviously still consider if a team is playing well at the end, but it's not one of the key figures that will be listed with each team, so it's unlikely that you'll see as much emphasis put on it as in past years. They were saying it on a Memphis radio show during an interview with one of the selection committee members.

I always thought the Last 12 stat was a little unfair anyway. If you take two bubble teams, the one playing in CUSA is going to have a better Last 12 record than the team in the SEC simply because of who they get to play at the end of the season.

predicting that we lose is not the same thing as hoping that we lose. It's not even close.

However, Gottlieb is saying that we have to win our last 7 games at least to even sniff a bid. That would put us at 25 freaking wins. I doubt a 23 or 24win SECteam has ever been left out much less been nervous on selection Sunday.

we are going to run the table? Or just lose 1 game the rest of the way?

We are 3-5 in our last 8 SEC games.
We 1-4 on the road in the SEC
Auburn is a tough match-up for us, and its highly unlikely we win there

I just dont see us being any better than 8-7 when Tennessee comes to town

I never said we would go undefeated. I just said that Gottlieb was a moron for saying we had to win out and then go deep in the SECT to get a bid. That is like saying we have to win 25-26 games to get in the NCAAs.
I also can easily see us dropping the games at Auburn and SC.

...and lose 1 of 2 to Auburn and SC. That puts us at 9-6 heading into the UT game, which is a must win to go dancing.

That will be a great atmosphere, almost like last night if we are in that situation. We might also be playing for the West that day. Hopefully the crowd will put us over the top against an unprotected team.

It's still a long shot, but we've got to take care of LSU Saturday. I am pretty worried about that one. Glad we get that extra day.

LSU will play hard and play tough, they just cant score enough to beat us...Bammer can and they play defense...but I still think we win them both

I see us losing to SC and Auburn easily though

But with a Rick Standsbury coached team and in the SEC, anything is certainly possible

It would be awesome if we could pull that kind of atmosphere for every game. I sat at the kentucky game on the second row from the floor and it was incredibly loud. I would like the hump to be the most feared arena in the nation but i doubt that will ever happen.
