Looks like Cal is done with Matt Jones

It's not Matt's responsibility to set it up. If the NCAA is going to let the schools set up (or at least be part of it and support) the collectives, then that is Mitch's responsibility. Matt is right in that Mitch is letting his own personal opinions about NIL affect his approach to it and in the long run it will negatively impact the athletic department. Part of the problem is also JMI. Without the university support, any collective an outside party sets up will fail.

If a collective does get started, I bet Matt is part of it with KSBar and potentially OVW. He has already done some stuff with both.
It’s not Matt’s responsibility. We agree.

But, a guy who makes a lot of money off UK sports and has decided to be a critic should be organizing and not just arm chair QBing. But, arm chair QBing is kind of what he does.

Whether Matt sets one up or not, if Mitch doesn't support it, it will fail. The entire point of what Matt has been saying is Mitch needs to quit dragging his feet and embrace NIL. If he doesn't, UK will fall behind and quite possibly never catch up especially in football. Matt is 100% correct.

They are separated and going through a divorce. The divorce could be final but I'm not sure. I believe Amanda has moved to Florida. Nothing was really said about what happened or why. Ryan just said that they had separated. I believe it was fairly amicable though as both Ryan and Amanda were at the Florida football game with Josian to watch Dane.
Sometimes when I have to travel, I would listen. The show is kind of like the Seinfeld of the air ways. Personalities talking about themselves doing nothing. But, some of the shows I heard did not portray Ryan’s wife in a favorable light. She came across as a “Karen” of sorts. I assumed it was mostly a caricature of her and not as she really is. It came across, however, as not flattering. I also assume he did that with her permission.

Also, I would like to apologize to you for some of the things I said to you. I'm still not your biggest fan but some of the things I said crossed a line that I don't like to cross.

I doubt Matt is 100% correct. But, if Mitch is dragging his feet, Matt should be doing more than just yapping about it. He should be driving the bus. No one is better suited and I seriously mean that (as in a flattering way - I respect what Matt has built, even if it does not entertain me).

These discussions about Jones end up being the sycophants vs the haters and the rest of us get casted by both with the other side, depending on the opinion, and the discussion becomes the typical toilet flush.

I appreciate that. Our discussions have been heated, at times, but I have always hoped the best for you. People live their lives away from message boards and I always hope their lives are filled with good relationships and joy.

They have definitely been heated for sure. I think you and I would agree on far more things than disagree. It just seems we disagree on the ones that seem to get the most heated such as abortion for example.

From his actions and the things he has said, there is no if. Mitch is absolutely dragging his feet because of his personal beliefs about NIL. There is no doubt that JMI is also contributing because of the contract they have with UK.

Wouldn’t Matt be the person to start a collective or something of that sort? What is he doing besides making money off UK sports? I have not been paying attention. Is he leading that charge?

Nope. Should, but unlikely he ever does

If TAMU approach to NIL is where people want Mitch, I am short-lived as a college fan. I think Mitch wants NIL, just not the Wild West we are seeing. If I am right about him and his leadership in the NCAA, I agree with him.

There is a middle ground though. Currently, we are one of only 2 schools whose AD hasn’t put out a video or statement asking for support of the collective. Whether Mitch is doing it behind the scenes or not doesn’t matter. Perception is reality. Fans need to see Mitch be proactive in his approach. Thus far we have only seen a reactive approach and it was done seemingly begrudgingly. UK needs to set up a system like the other SEC schools where fans can donate to the collective. Make it like the K fund. Different levels get different benefits. That is completely legal under the NCAA rules and is nowhere near what A&M has been doing in regards to NIL and recruiting. He doesn’t have to like the rules but they are the rules and he needs to embrace the change. It’s part of his job.

It’s not just politics. Matt has a lot of girly traits. Matt is a known prick. Matt thinks he’s bigger than he actually is. Matt think he’s funnier than he is. Matt puts Kentucky fans down regularly. Matt is a liar and a thief. There’s many reasons to hate the clown.

................

I've heard these things a lot but don't know him on a personal level. I know he used a friend's photos without permission for years, and were pretty nasty about and towards him while they were doing it. He had never done anything to deserve it, but they had been talking sht about him from day one.

Another friend got to hang out with him at several events and said he really seems to dislike people that aren't helping him directly. Sounds like any politician and most of the rich people they know.

I'd like to think he's changed from those days, as that's been at least 8 years ago now, but I still hear these things. Is it just success that has made people hate him, or is he really what they say he is? My experience tells me people are very different than their public image

Well, for starters, simply getting the fanbase back.

... even the biggest Cal fan should easily be able to understand why a large portion of the fanbase would not be happy with Cal. He knows this too. If he cares about the fanbase at all, he would make a strong effort to go on shows like KSR and answer the tough questions.

Cal has NEVER answered the tough questions.
Cal is not very self-aware.
Cal does not take responsibility for anything, even when he appears to be taking responsibility.

We will find out this season if he is able to learn and grow, or even change, for the better.

Some of the things Matt said were legit and I thought he said them in a respectful way but IMHO he let his numnuts sidekick go on and on and on and on about it and RL almost got personal towards Cal
I have never understood why the guys on KSR think whatever R does is the funniest thing that has ever happened

He is the fall guy. He is the yes man. They let him say what they don't want to be heard saying. He doesn't seem to mind that they use and abuse him, and laugh at him on a regular basis. That's one of the main reasons I hear people say they don't listen. The way they treat him is cruel and abusive.

He's the only sports guy on there, too.

Wow, that seems out of the blue. And yeah, Ryan is dealing with it pretty well, I would have thought he would be down and out, that’s not easy to go through and it seems like she kept him on the straight and narrow for the most part.
She’s all over Tic Tok. She’s a life coach 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I guess I missed a show where Ryan revealed his split with Amanda. Did they get divorced or something?
Seems like the next time I tuned in, Matt was talking about Ryan being single. Do you know what happened there?
Yes. They did file for separation. And it was very sad. Ryan handled it well though.

I’d like to commend you two for being gentlepeople and being adults. Cool to see tbh.

I’m not gonna completely knock the life coach thing as it’s nice to have someone keep you accountable if that’s what you need, but most of them are jokes. There a couple of legit ones though that will kick butt. Not sure if they’d call themselves “life coaches” though.

Ryan is fine. Most of the time. But he does have ridiculous takes every now and then and is way too old to act the way he does at times. Like I said, here and there it’s fun. He’s the kind of guy to have a beer and a few laughs with. But he always pushes its it too far at times. Always seems like he’s reliving his college days. Which again is fine here and there. Have a beer, cheer the Caits on and have fun. But know when to dial it back.

I like he keeps us up to date with some of the political stuff. Especially if it impacts the Commonwealth.

Again, I’d like him to do a political podcast. It would be a good listen.
When I think of Ryan this is who I picture him being...

Stoops called on the people in the state to put money into the collectives already in place. So, maybe people like Matt who have a loud voice should encourage donations.

It’s really unfortunate when people let politics govern their lives and deny themselves simple enjoyments. I don’t agree mostly with him but it doesn’t bother me enough to not get a light-hearted couple laughs and some good UK info on my way home.

Too many other sources of UK info to bother with his lunacy
