From KV's blog -

• Mullen said RB Anthony Dixon has worked hard this preseason. As for his punishment from that July arrest on suspicion of DUI? "He's in the process," Mullen said. "He's serving different punishment things right now. At some point, when we figure everything out in the end, we'll release what all his punishments were."

Sounds like he is done with whatever "punishments" he has had to go through or is close to completing them.

that he was going to play against Jackson State. I'm glad he is. I hope he doesn't get suspended from any games.

i will feel much more comfortable, but not confident enough to chalk it up as a "W" this is a classic case of overlooking an underrated opponent. rick comegy wont overlook that fact

19 posts....wow...do we really have our first JSU lurker on the board?

When I thought Dixon wasn't playing and maybe sherrod and tobias, I adjusted our margin of victory down to about 30 in my head. Now it's back up around 40.

I think a senior with high expectations who should know better should be suspended at least one game. Plus, if you can't beat JSU without Dixon you won't win another game anyway.

And yes, I think Tig should be suspended too.

Dixon should be suspended also. Two disciplinary actions that I know have taken place so far. 1) Haircut 2) They've been running his *** off....as early as 4:30 in the morning on occasion. I'm sure there are others.

This may have been a blessing in the regard of getting his *** in shape.

Completely. That's been my thoughts the entire time. Sit him. Make an example in a game that shouldnt matter if he's there or not. If we lose. Kick everyone off the team that's not a damn freshman. Fold your cards. And play for experience

According to the Clarion-Ledger's Ole Miss beat reporter David Brandt, " It doesn't appear there will be any sort of suspension for the freshman from the alleged DUI incident in Batesville. Nutt said Barksdale would receive counseling and he'll also probably do a fair share of running after a bunch of these preseason practices."

If you really wanted to set a good example man up and set his *** for the Auburn game. Setting him for the JSU game is useless. I for one think he will be punish through the court system. So let him play!

but it's possible. I would think Nutt would be wrong in that case. Maybe he'll pull the old "he wasn't a member of the team then, so..." Regardless, he should be suspended for a game. Unless the playing time helps us win another game. Then it should of course be handled internally....

Although Nutt is more established, and not setting a tone really. That is a difference, plus the senior vs. freshman thing. Still, I'd bench his ***. If either coach doesn't, it will be tough to suspend the next guy who gets a DUI.

I've seen that one used before. I think maybe Auburn used that excuse for a player.

We used that one with Marcus Bullard way back in 1994. Worked out OK for us until he pistol-whipped that guy after the 1996 Final Four season.
