Man, would love to believe arnett is identifying guys with potential. But I'm assuming we just need bodies and FSU is where he has connections with people with bodies.
At least these guys were highly ranked out of high school at least. Better this than getting a mediocre guy from JSU.
He was just an analyst for FSU so he’s seen them up close.
Yes, wasn't clear in my post I guess, but I know he's seen them and assume he knows them to an extent. (Not entirely sure how much interaction analysts have with players. I assume they are in film sessions and one on one discussions even if they can't interact on the field at practice). I am just wondering to what extent he is pitching to guys that he identified as having untapped potential, versus we just need people with D1 talent, and these young guys are D1 talent that didn't get a lot of playing time for a terrible team and aren't hot commodities, so we're just taking anybody from there that he isn't sure just doesn't belong on a D1 team.
That's the story line. But that's a lot of "good players" coming from a 2-10 team. The cynic in me wonders if FSU wasn't getting rid of a lot of players and we picked some of them up because it was easy since Arnett had a connection with them.
One thing for sure, they were poorly Coached and their HC has been on the hot seat which creates drama in the locker room.
I guess I've been under a rock but I never looked up where Arnett was before he came back to State. All the FSU players now make sense.
Surely Arnett isn’t bringing players who can’t at least contribute. We had no backups the last two years. I’m thinking first off Arnett wants to prove he can coach and two he likes living in Starkville. To me that’s a “plus”.
Arnett’s first Leach defense was supposed to be completely awful on paper, and he turned it into something, so I can live with all this and see how it goes. Didn’t he essentially have a walk on safety starting for us that year? I think the guy got on scholarship but still
The question is, if Lebby just doesn't get it done this year, would Arnett be the interim HC since he'd definitely have the most experience with coaching in the SEC as HC on our staff.
If we land that LT then I feel Lebby is safe another year.

on the other side of the coin, I can’t see Arnett bringing them in if there is very little chance they contribute. If he knows they don’t offer much, just take a chance on someone that you don’t know. You might get lucky.
We need to bring analysts off teams each year for scouting/ player acquisition.
Yeah Londyn Craft was the walk on safety I think who ended up being a pretty good ball player that year. Arnett seemed to do a good job evaluating defensive talent first time around. Have to believe you don’t just lose that skill over night
