But I really didn't think they'd get him. If it's true, it makes sense based on how things unfolded. Wulff was not immediately fired Sunday like most of the "walking dead" coaches and there was speculation that the WSU AD was delaying until he was sure Leach was onboard - with the premise that Wulff may be given another year if Leach turned them down. So, yesterday, Wulff was finally fired. The WSU AD said they'd be able to pay Leach a competitive salary due to the Pac 12's new TV contract (Wulff was only making $600K).
WSU is a little bit like the MSU of the Pac 12 - in a smaller out-of-the-way town, smaller fanbase, but great fans, success has been sporadic, one of the smallest budgets in the conference, etc. I think Leach's personality and unorthodox scheme will work well there.
