but what if a white basketball player said they didn't want to play for coach X because coach X historically doesn't have many, if any, white players on his teams. And a scan of the current roster of coach X's team shows no white players currently on the squad.

I think the media people would get a chuckle, roll their eyes, and get back to writing their fluff piece on the football team.

on who the white player is. If a Tim Tebow said something like that, then it would be a big deal.

</p>When Thaddeus Young was being recruited, his dad said that he wanted his son to play for a black coach. Nothing was really said about it, but I could only imagine the uproar had a white player said something similar.

Different than your example because I don't think the white player would be taken seriously due to the large number of african americans playing DI basketball. However, that number isn't as prevalent in the coaching world.

Othella Herrington's mother wanted her son to play for a black coach. She told Richard Williams basically, "We love MSU, but Othella is gonna play for a black coach." He was MSU bound. He went to Georgetown as most of you remember.

You don't hear WVU fans talking about how great their baseball program is. Having an all white team is only an issue at MSU because only MSU fans talk about how great the baseball program is. If MSU was winning CWS with an all white team at the rate LSU was, it'd be a non issue.

because we have been missing out on some good players- of all races.

Exactly. Good programs don't miss out on good players. Polk wasn't even getting the good white players...
