Looks like the Kitty Cats luck out with Cal this time.

It was reported by Ian Begley of ESPN that Cal had his people reach out to the Knicks regarding their President's vacancy. Of course the time Cal actually wants another jobs the loser Knicks told Cal they aren't interested in him "at this time." I understand that UK nuts will laugh it off as the usual offseason Cal rumor mill underway. Of course Cal has strongly denied this but Begley was just on Sports Center 15 minutes ago and said he heard the Cal denial but that he will "respectfully disagree" with Cal and stands by his report 100%. Of course Kitty Cat fans are laughing it off and acting as if there is nothing to it. Well this time it looks like they may just luck out as the Knicks may not be interested. If they wanted Cal I have a feeling UK fans would have been in for a shock. And dealing with that whacko fanbase year after year has to really take a toll. Being coach at UK for ten years is probably equal to 30 years somewhere else. They are absolutely nuts. The Bama football fans of men's bball.

Routine, every year at beginning of earl recruiting, a
rumor surfaces. It does get funny after 6/7 years.
Wild guess source is it may be a rival recruiter
trying to sway a naive recruit. That source is as good
as any ESPN reporter would have.
Just check ESPN rumors or opinions lately.
Start with J Bilis' remarks on UNC and UL beimg
unjustly punished or investigated.
Why don't we as fan just get along and let the little
Kitty Cats and the little Blue demons play some
ball when the time comes.
Just having some fun really. But anything you trust
a ESPN reporter with an unnamed source or any reporter whose livelyhood is based on "link clicks",
Might as well quote the weatherman or bar tender.

Edit PS. Funny you mentioned UK is lucky to keep Cal and our instate birds say
we would be lucky to lose him before he ruins the program.

For you to spout off as if this Ian Begley made this up out of the clear blue sky is a bit ridiculous as well. Maybe, just maybe, some things, no matter how much you don't want to believe them, are true...

Living here in Kensucky, I cant tell you this from experience. When Cal was at Memphis, and even all the way back to UMass, I cant count how many times I heard uk fans say what a cheat and shyster he was.....and now...he is a god. I would bet a lot of money that they would turn on him just as quick as they did Pitino if he left here and went somewhere else.

Just as you posted..it's a usual yearly off season at UK story, with or without legs. Most of us expect it and just laugh. One day, it may be true, but when.?
I stay with my opinion that rumors and opinions out sell the facts in today's world. ESPN knows that too.

Yea I remember the 2008 National Championship game when Matt Jones of KSR said he would be rooting for Kansas because he just couldn't root for Calipari and his cheating ways. Now the guy loves him! Lol! Go figure.

Sorry, but I couldn't afford a Duke education.
The diploma that I did earn in the 50's seems to be losing some power. At least that my idea why I don't remember as well 6 decades later. Just show be some love, I don't own a UNC degree.
poppycat I too would wish a UK degree over a UNC degree, even if it is 60 years old.

Yep, there is an old thread that I see every now and then from RR with the title something like "What's the first thing that pops into your head when you hear the name John Calipari?" There was page after page bashing him with answers like "used carsalesman", "scumbag", "sleaze"....etc. Now he is their sleaze so all is OK, I guess. Unreal.

From Rafters. Lol. Yeah, K started the story for recruiting purposes. Those kitty cats flatter themselves waaaay too much. This thread is talking about how Ian Begley is not a very good LIAR. Ha ha.

"That's what I was thinking. The guy was stupid enough to run with it from so called sources and got burned. No doubt in my mind the rumor started with someone associated with UL, UNC, KU, or Duke. I was leaning toward UL and them trying to take some of the pressure off of themselves by diverting the news, but I changed my mind.

With Duke being our biggest recruiting rival and Cal getting the recruiting advantage with the U19 team, I am leaning toward K or one of his lackies. First he whines about one and done players and then this happens with Cal sleeping in Egypt and can't defend himself. The damage has probably been done already. They will continue to say Cal won't be there when you show up on campus and some players will probably believe that coming from K."

Need more info:
Was he fired for using paid escorts for recruiting?
Was he fired for giving free credits to keep players eligible?
Or was he fired for sending too many players to NBA and settling for E-8's & FF's?

I actually like cal as a Duke fan ..I mean obviously I really don't know anything but what the media portrays but the same can be said for k. We don't know these people just what the scam media wants us too .some may know a little more then others but yea . 2 great coaches with different styles. Now Roy i can't stand..I don't care about Kentucky or cal enough to despise them the way some here do.i damn sure wouldn't take 2 minutes out of my day to even go to a U.K. Board either :) I don't get it...Fans? Maybe lmao..that's y few like us ...

Who needs a coach? OFC

Same question, If Coach K was fired, would anyone hire him? No doubt, it would depend on the reason. Same could be said about any coach.
If R Pitno..........issues pending
If Roy W...........case not closed yet

I am ok with your opinion. On the visiting issue, I visit here maybe daily, (and sometimes other boards). UK board is more active and has some good posters and much trash wannabees. I learn from visiting here, see other opinions and actually find many mature bb fans and a few similar to other boards. There is no good reason for any CBB fan to limit his views to homer bias..........I/we are Americans..will always be.......could you enjoy visiting London, Paris, Rio, Thailand, etc? different cultures that I couldn't endorse maybe, but still enjoy the visit.

Your joining date suggests that you are much younger than I. Could mean you have less spare time. I'm 75+, am semi-retired, semi-cripple, & semi-senile (some think). I am always interested in non-bias opinions if there is such a thing. I am not a Duke fan, but watch more Duke ball than any other except UK. I like the Duke brand of bb, find it entertaining. Some claim they never watch a game if their team is not playing. Sometimes, I just like to root against someone instead of for someone.
Old age does have some advantages.

Don't sell old folks short. Some can teach a thing or two. I didn't own or use a computer until I passed 50.
Without a lesson, I learned from my kids and grandkids. (I write this not to boast but to say, it's not too late until you give up) Over 60, I decided to put my business records on the computer. Seeing that most spread sheets didn't fit needs, I started writing my own. (with a few helps) You (me) are never too old to be taught by the youth and never too young (or old) to learn from the older.

Good advice...Exercise the brain to keep it alive.
You don't want your body to out live your brain, do you?

BTW, IPSY.. I teach a Sunday class for men 65/90+. One man besides me use a computer and only about half own a smart phone. Even at that, they only use it as a phone.

Doesn't matter what he's fired for as long as he's still eligible to coach. Regarding which school would hire him, the better question is who wouldn't as I can assure you that list is much shorter and would consist of maybe 10-15 teams if money wasn't a major issue.
