Looks like there is more to the Mirando story.

Sorry, not trying to talk in code. Since it's all out there, I'll spill, but keep in mind there are others out there far more "in the know" than me, so take this with a grain of salt.

When the news first broke, I heard that Mirando had knocked up a current student-athlete, NOT the girl from Orlando. While neither of these seems likely anymore, it became clear that he was dicking around the athletic department in some capacity. Hell, if you can lay 'em, slay 'em, right? Yeah, and all that other stupid swag ****.

However, a day or two after said rumors, another source told me that it had nothing to do with either ******. Turns out that Mirando had MAYBE violated NCAA rules while recruiting Redmond, and that Tennessee had turned us in.

Another friend I discussed this with did some research and figured that it had to involve middle man DeVinner, who was already being investigated by the NCAA, and had already had one of his 7-on-7 guys ruled ineligible at Auburn.

Again, little to none of this has been confirmed, but it sure looks like the latter portions have some weight. I would NEVER post this kind of **** before it came out, because I was under the impression that it might not ever see the light of day. But since Joe Schad is all over it, I guess it doesn't matter anymore.

MSU is now calling it a "recruiting irregularity" Is any one familiar with this recruiting legal term?

I can actually see Mullen not knowing anything

If you ever saw Mirando out, he would tell you anything you wanted to know. I can see a booster approaching him and asking how he can help, and Mirando would find a way.

We reported the issue to the NCAA a while back. We went through all the proper steps to clear it up with the NCAA. Unfortunately, media pressure is going to force the NCAA's hand in this. We could have come out relatively clean if the media didn't get a hold of it.

Yup. 2 scholarships.

I would be surprised if it was Redmond. This guy committed early and didn't waver if memory serves me correct.

if there was a recruiting irregularity, wouldn't that mean that him wavering would be less likely?

There is protocol involved(going through the SEC offices with formal complaints). If Dooley leaked this to Schad, especially as part of an ongoing investigation, Slive will fry him...

Dooley has little to lose. Not much Slive can do to a former SEC coach.

I bet it came.............

from a bit closer to Memphis than Knoxville. Just a hunch. Remember when JWS had us going?

that was my first thought when i was reading all this. The bears might have gotten a little upset on how things have been going lately, but i could also see Dooley doing anything he can to save his bacon.

We did not report the violation

NCAA found out about the illegal activity while in Memphis. they have been on the case for weeks. It started going sour for State and Mirando was let go hoping the penalty will be less severe.

Everybody calm down

This is due diligence by the NCAA and their on going investigation into Byron De’Vinner and his 7-on-7 travel team. They have also been over to Vanderbilt looking into the recruitment of Brian Kimbrow.

Basically, Tennessee is said to be the one that turned us in. Doesn't surprise me that this broke the same day as the Da'rick Rogers story did. Schadd was probably on the phone with Dooley and in order to deflect attention he dropped this to him. I have heard a 6 game suspension for the player and it involves an improper benefit that the kid no longer has or received.

However, I don't believe that MSU fans should boo Dooley, he was just doing his job as every other coach in this league should. I don't care if every school in the conference cheats, I don't want MSU involved. We have been down that road before and it is the wrong road and could ruin our university. I don't want cheaters on our staff, and I don't blame Dooley for turning us in. In fact, I applaud it, and expect the same from every other SEC institution.

WTF? You know how well us turning in Cam worked out for us? Mike Slive kindly reminded the
SEC that we don't turn in each other, under any circumstances.

Oh they are..

I can promise you they are looking into the recruitment of Jaylen Walton as well. However, the real target here is not Redmond, Walton or Kimbrow, it’s Byron De’Vinner and his West Tennessee Xpress 7-on-7 team.

The NCAA is trying to get a hold of these 7-on-7 travel teams before it turns into the equivalent of what AAU is to college basketball. Angelo Mirando is barely on the NCAA radar.

When missouridawg was "wondering" out loud if Mirando left because he couldn't work with Mullen, I said you could rule that out + anything Peachbowl came up with.

Its like death and taxes.
