Vandy is invoking the Pitching Rule

If we pitch, we rule...

Tomorrow goes back to single elimination, so we get one shot at Vandy.

Sort of...it's time to do some scoreboard watching and hoping.

Indiana leads Ohio State (no bueno) and Oregon is crushing Utah in the 1st of a 3 game series. We need Utah to take AT LEAST one against Oregon and we need Ohio State to make a comeback. GO BUCKEYES!

Warren Nolan updated their RPI earlier.

NC State jumped FSU in the RPI to 8th. They are only .0007 RPI points behind Oregon, so I think another win for NC State might lock them in. #7 or #8 RPI with a SOS of 14 and at least 44 wins is pretty solid. They play UNC on Saturday and the winner of that game goes to the final. If they get to the final, they would definitely be locked in because they would have a win over UNC.

So that would mean Oregon, FSU, and us for the last national seed spot. A bad Utah team tripping up Oregon once, FSU losing a third game in pool play, and us taking a win from Vanderbilt would probably put us in the driver seat for that last national seed spot.

UNC score 5 in the top of the 9th to tie Clemson.

Clemson gets men on but can't score in the bottom half. Heading to the 10th.

I completely disagree. I think Indiana is the team that will get that last national seed...based on the region and the conference they are in.

Indiana is demolishing Ohio State. In front of NOBODY (yesterday's game featured Minnesota- playing about 1 mile from campus, and also had NOBODY there). Seriously, maybe a hundred people are there. If you get the Big 10 network, it's worth tuning in just to see all the empty seats. Any MLB batting practice for a last place team in September would have more fans. Single A high school games have more fans. The Bad News Bears had more fans. Mitch Kramer's team in Dazed and Confused had more fans. It's impressive to have something in the middle of a big downtown area and have nobody show up. I guess the RV parking situation leaves something to be desired.

You might end up being right.

They don't deserve it I don't think, but regionally college baseball will want a northern team and Indiana does have an ok resume. It's not better than ours, FSUs, or Oregon's, but it's probably good enough to not have to explain why they were chosen over those three teams. Their RPI is 12th, but their SOS is 70th, which is pretty bad for a national seed.

I'm not going to be upset if we don't get a national seed because it should be pretty obvious right now that we are a damn good team either way. But that sure would be a nice thing to hang our hats on for one of the best seasons we've had in terms of wins in a long time.

It is sad that because we drew Missouri in the first round, our strength of schedule dropped, and our RPI has remained the same. We cannot choose the teams we play in the tourney. But heck, I guess it works both ways. Apparently you can improve your RPI as well as strength of schedule as well, and we get that chance on Saturday.....and hopefully Sunday.

Expecting to Achieve.

Indiana will not be a national seed. The selection committee will give a northern school some leeway for hosting a regional. But I can't remember them ever doing it for a national seed. And Indiana barely deserves to host on their own merits (they're a lock because of their region though).

Indiana's SOS is what should keep them out of a national seed.

I think they have done enough to host, but playing the 70th toughest schedule and only getting 42 wins from that is not that terribly impressive and shouldn't be enough to get a national seed. Certainly not over us or Oregon. I really think a win over Vanderbilt tomorrow should be enough to get us there. 10th toughest schedule, 10th RPI, 43 wins. I hate that we weren't better at the beginning of SEC play, but we've played some good baseball recently and I think deserve it.

I found a city in Indiana's Region

4 hours & 15 minutes to where Indiana "should" be playing.
