Apparently Slive isn't giving up on them and the separation from OK State could turn out to be the deciding factor. I have read where their previous statement of following Texas wherever they went wasn't exactly written in stone. The question is, if they want to come to the SEC will the OK state legislature, which is dominated by OSU grads, allow the two schools to split. Guess we'll find out about them Wednesday when their Board of Regents meet.

The above analysis is basced on the fact that the Texas A&M mascot is a border collie (I own a border collie) and the Oklahoma fight song is Boomer Sooner (my border collie's name is Boomer). Therefore, my Son of Sam-ish analysis holds as much weight as the pro-UT Dallas News newspaper who listed Slive's visit to aTm yesterday as unconfirmed internet reports.

I would take OSU if it means getting OU. But I would be surprised if we add 4 teams right now. I'm still thinking just one more in addition to A&M.

4 4-team divisions just isn't going to happen. And I really doubt we're going to a 9-game SEC schedule no matter what. An 8-game schedule equals more and better bowls for everybody, and the people running the conference are plenty smart enough to know that.

I dont think this fad of mega conferences is going to pan out. Guess we will see in 5 years or so but I hope the SEC doesnt add anyone.

...I wouldn't want to be them in recruiting trying to sell kids on the Pac 10 while A&M is below me and Oklahoma is above me offering the strongest football conference in the nation.

If Slive's ultimate goal is Texas, he may have found the only ploy with any chance of succeeding. Sway A&M and OU to leave Texas on an island.

...still... it makes me a little sick to my stomach to think of having to deal with their fans on a regular basis.

I don't expect the SEC to expand at all unless they get a chance that's just too good to pass up. Adding a Texas A&M would be too good to pass up though. I think 14 teams is pushing the limit. </p>

Texas A&M would bring that much. Others that might include VA Tech, North Carolina, Missouri and maybe Oklahoma. But the list is very short and the SEC doesn't have to expand. If we can't get Texas A&M (or even Texas), I'd be surprised to see the SEC add anybody.

If the SEC goes to 16 teams they're locked in, unless they want to go bigger. It makes more sense to go to 14 now and see how things shake out. Two unknown teams may come available in the future and the SEC will want to be in a position to take advantage.
