Great news. Point guard with his IQ and ability as a sophomore.
Been a while since we’ve said that.

Now if his shot improves, his stock will too, and that may help Duke out with some other kids down the road.

PF - Carey, Hurt, Jack
C- Bolden, Javin

I'm freaking pumped. If our Core returnees can improve at least somewhat over the off season, we could be scary good again.

This goes far beyond the abilities of Tre as a player. His IQ, his ability to run an offense while not having to be ball dominant, his leadership on defense, will all do wonders for a team that will need an identity next year. Carey and Hurt (assuming this locks him up) are going to be another couple of great ones but I don’t think they are the alpha males that Zion and RJ were for us. We will need Tre’s leadership to make all our individual pieces better. This goes far beyond Tre as a player, this is tremendous news.

The depth is there. It’s up to the players to make the needed improvements. Jack needs to re-find himself and his shot, Alex needs to be in the weightroom all summer, Jordan should be working on being a competent shooter. Javin should be playing pick up non stop and getting reps. Ques, if back, should be working on his post moves and finishing said moves. The people screaming for a bench or development should be hyper about this off season. No matter who will bring in, it won’t be our last class. Everyone mentioned above and incoming has an opportunity. Don’t wait until the season starts and blame K for lack of minutes, earn those minutes starting now.

Very good for Duke/CBB and it will be interesting for Tre. I actually think this may set up for him to be a 3 or 4 year player - think Cassius Winston - who also came in as a top 50 kid but lacks the dynamic ability the NBA craves. I don’t think either can improve their stock enough, with their inherent limitations, to be a mid first round player. Their destiny is to run a second unit in the NBA

An 8-9 man rotation will still be world's better than the 6-7 (really 6 in the tourney) man rotation we had this past year. We're going to have a lot more options this year, instead of relying on 2 guys to do well over half of our scoring. It'll also help keep us fresh defensively.

Nope, I just enjoy talking about a team I have no vested interest in. Look, 8 may be the normal max. But let's just say one of our starters is struggling, hurt or whatever, we will have a competent guy to replace him. Something we haven't had since I don't even know how long.

Edit: We will also have 3 seniors, 2 juniors, and 2 sophomores, so we'll have depth AND experience.
