Were you watching our practices this year? He is a recruiter not the coach.

Must have actually twiddled his thumbs at practice. Lemme guess, he was the water boy while your graduate assistant, not the wide receivers coach, coached wide receivers, right? I'm not sure you realize how silly that actually sounds.

Its a good hire for UK don't get me wrong...but Lamar was ranked 35th in the ACC last year in recruiting and he was 62nd this year. LD Scott is the best recruiter we have...was 8th last year in the ACC and 8th again this year.

He recruited Lamar Jackson to UL.

It's funny that UL fans and reporters are acting like its no big deal that they lost him but yet they seem overly defensive about it. Just look at all the Card fans in this thread saying its no big loss.

You do know, of course, if Petrino the Younger was coaching that's a NCAA violation unless they made room for him by terminating another asst? Of course you knew that.

He recruited Lamar Jackson to UL.

He did. He brought in some kids last year....but like I said, he was 35th in the ACC last year in the rankings. Its a good hire, a splashy hire for Stoops as well. I'll be interested to see who Coach Petrino replaces him with and if he'll go to another former player or look to his brother Paul.

Sheeeeet. They have assistant coaches hiring whores in order to land recruits.

Do you think they give a crap about the NCAA rules on grad assistants coaching?

Seems quite defensive. If you don't care, and it's not a good hire for your rival, you laugh that your rival just picked him up (as they often try to do with most other hires that UK makes), not complain to everybody that will hear you (which is new, and kinda hilarious to see).

Seems Nick should be hired. Right?

The folks in Moscow aren't too happy, but Idaho is never good, so he might get two more years. Regardless, he is staying this year

If that's the case then we'll give him a pay bump and he'll do both.

Miami WR and former Tampa Bay Buc - or - Nick Petrino coaching your WRs? Hmmm.... okay.
Oh, no... NCAA championship winning and 7-year NFL vet WR coach < Nick Petrino of Pop Warner and 420 fame.

I believe that is what I just said. Frankly I think he will get enough ex-con's up there to turn it into a decent team. Might not be able to win the Sun Belt, but if they can get to 6 or 7 wins Paul will get a look from a bigger/better program.

.... That is so long as the new program doesn't care that they might be hiring a terrible human being.

Sounds to me like Daddy saddled this guy with his spawn and he did not like it one bit. He found out CMS does not have any of his children working for him and decided that sounded like a better workplace. This is not hard to read between the lines. Nick Petrino coached the WR's? Puh-lezzze...

the old saying of "they doth protest too much, methinks" applies to the UL media's treatment of this news.

If it didnt sting a little bit they wouldnt say anything. Chad Scott leaving us a few weeks ago wasnt a surprise and honestly didnt bother me a heck of a lot. I sure didn't blow up twitter like Mengus & Demling are this afternoon.

Yep. Something's up somewhere. You don't just leave 2 days before NSD (especially if you are nothing more than a recruiter) and take a job with your rival school. Smells bad on UL's end. Then again, what's new?

Hell no. Eff that scumbag POS.
You know I thought that scumbag POS would not be able to recruit at all at Otis, but it looks like he's doing a pretty damn good job in both areas despite his troubles at Arkansas... Just like I said all along these kids do not care about that kind of stuff they just want to play for a coach they know can get the job done

Nick Petrino? Now we know where LilBrothel gets their pot from.

Looks like you hit the nail on head Lecter. Found this snip-it when googling the great WR coach, Nic Petrino:

The Huntingburg Police Department in southern Indiana said 23-year-old Dominic R. Petrino, of Fayetteville, Ark., was arrested at 12:06 a.m. Monday and charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, illegal possession of prescription drugs and possession of paraphernalia. An outstanding quarterback on the high school level, Petrino transferred to Arkansas in the spring of 2009.

Wouldn't make sense to make Nicky the WR coach he already was.

Okay, so what effect do you think this has on Desmond Fitzpatrick? The kid committed today, so it is possible that he knew that this was coming and it might have no effect. It could also come as a huge surprise and he might be wavering. Not saying he comes here, but what do you guys think?
