Bad competition not withstanding, Johnson has a good arm, can run, and (most importantly) looks like he knows what he's doing out there.

I'm not going to get amped up over a very good performance vs. NMSU.....but it's finally refreshing to see us run a read option with a threat to run at QB. Makes a ton of difference if the QB is a threat to keep and go around end.

Barker isn't that option even when healthy.
