It's a shame. We should be able to put 5 benchwarmers out there and beat these guys. Ever since we lost to Xavier in the tourney Rick has decided torecruit small. We go from a physical, defensive, rebounding team to a finesse 4 guard team. Thattype of team is a streaky teamand if they get hot at the right time they can make a run. The problem is our shooters suck.

We used to be physical and would punch you in the mouth and defend the hell out of you. Now we are finesse and have zero toughness. I think that way is easier to teach. Recruit shooters and run the floor with no control of the offense. It requires hardly any set plays.
let me say, i dont think we will lose this game, however we do seem to make the same recruiting mistakes over and over
we recruited gary ervin, an NYC point guard, who couldnt run a half court set, so what do we do? go get Tranny who is Ervin Jr.
we recruited two seven footers who couldnt move and would constantly be outrebounded by smaller, more athletic bigs in Marcus Campbell and Wes Morgan, so what do we do? recruit Riek, the human erector set

Wendell Lewis has athleticism, but he is clueless out there. Remember, Auburn fans said that we paid 25,000 bucks for him. I guess the trade is even now because we got Wendell and they got Newton.
Reik is a complete project that will probably never be a factor for us. I can guarantee you this. If he leaves after this season and transfers to a school like Georgetown or a big program that can develop big men historically, he could be a NBA draft pick. We don't develop big men. I'm sure that's why Adams went to Georgetown over MSU. We do not showcase big men in our program anymore.
