Go look at Nebraska's trophy case and look at our's and come back and tell me what you see. And with their new deal, they will have more money too.

Nobody would choose us over Nebraska. We couldn't even hold on to Mike Bobo.

Nebraska's trophies have quite a bit of dust on them.

Their position in the B10 is a step down from ours in the SEC.

We'll find out a lot next year. Rhule had a social media post touting "Satt's Offense" with the UT and Clemson stats. Of course, he conveniently left any number of the previous 23 games where the offense was non-existent. Very conveniently left out the UF debacle where the offense scored 0 points against a bad defense.

The question nobody can answer is IF Satterfield was calling the offense in the UT and Clemson games, why did he wait until Game #24 of his tenure?

Some have noted player execution. Is it reasonable to think that our offense was more or less stagnant for 23 game because of player execution and then, suddenly, out of nowhere, they were executing in Game #24. Or is it more reasonable to think there was a change to offensive play callling?

There's a lot that doesn't add up and that we'll never have the answers to. It'll shake out in the long run. If we get a new OC and the offense still sucks next year and Nebraska jumps to a top 20 offense, we'll know.

Makes too much sense for some on this board.

Two coaching searches.

They landed Rhule.
We were turned down by the head coach of Louisiana. Not LSU, Louisiana. Even Rick Rod turned us down in a previous search, thank goodness.

Some of you need a real reality check.

First, the "more or less stagnant for 23 games" isn't true. Just flat dishonest. Numerous games where the offense was good and even very good.

Second, yes, somebody can answer the question. Beamer did. Emphatically.

It's called creative writing! Trying to justify a questionable hire to the Nebraska faithful and donors who have done some research and are scratching their heads in disbelief!

Due to the nature of things, Nebraska is still a brand name in some circles. I actually think it says something that Rhule ended up at Nebraska instead of Auburn, which is certainly the better job. It appears that Rhule and Nebraska settled for each other.

Nevertheless, if you go back to 2000, Nebraska has 166 wins. We have 163. In that time frame, they have 8 top 25 finishes and we have 6. Notably, we had three top 10 finishes, while they had none. There hasn't been much separating us as programs for the past 2 decades, other than we have a tougher schedule in the SEC. While Nebraska still has the name from the glory days, they are far, far removed from the on-field success that game them their name. It's been a good while since they have been relevant.

All that to say, yes, Nebraska still has a "name" that they can trade on, thanks to Tom Osborne.

Negative Nellys all over this board..........if you like Satt so much, go root for Big Red. And who cares what national media thinks about us compared to Nebraska. Who cares what the kids might think (although you and I really have no clue how kids today think), let Beamer do his job.

Rhule was unemployed and looking to get back into college coaching. The Louisiana coach had bigger aspirations and ended up achieving them.

We can argue that Nebraska pays more than sc, but that's about it. Nebraska is an also ran in a conference that is a step down from the SEC. They are a step down from us.

Makes ZERO sense. If we have someone else on the staff that could call those games that successfully, then why aren't they already the new OC?

Why are we even looking elsewhere?
Maybe we aren't, who knows? Remember, there is public and there is private.

LOL. They just shelled out $9 MILLION a year for Rhule.

We pay our women's basketball coach more than our head football coach.

THAT says it all. /the end

Not for long. Of course Beamer's salary was low, considering he took the job with no head coach or coordinator experience. Staley was a proven commodity as a HC when she took the job here and now has a couple titles to her name.

But, Beamer will be getting a healthy pay increase before long and will be making considerably more than Staley. That we would pay a head football coach who has 2 seasons of experience with an overall record slightly above .500 more than we pay our 2x national title women's basketball coach actually says it all. /the end

Did you enjoy getting curb stomped by a 6-6 UF?

Teams have bad games. All of them. Did you expect to go undefeated in year 2 after the Muschamp disaster?

But I'll take an assbeating from Florida if it means beating Tennessee's and Clemson's asses and being the talk of college football for two weeks. More than made up for it.

Don't forget our superb offensive performance against 6-6 Missouri.

The first game of the season encapsulates the Satterfield era. Mid-major Georgia State finished the season with the 87th ranked defense in the nation, averaging giving up 399 yards per game. Our offense gained 311 yards in that game. We needed 2 blocked punts returned for touchdowns to win. Our first and only first half touchdown was made only after a fake field goal was converted into a first down.

The Satterfield apologist will come up with some excuse. It does not matter. He loses. Satterfield is gone, and that won't change, no matter what. We win. Carolina wins.

Guess his life is great as is. I would feel the same. Just thought he might miss coaching without all the crap that comes with being a HC. He is great as an OC.

And, let's not forget how notoriously slow-starting Satterfield's offenses were. Again, the UT game stands out as a stark anomaly here. Even in games we won, the offense was totally MIA until the 2nd half (See UK and A&M). Even against Charlotte, who has arguably the worst defense in the nation, we had 20 at halftime.

Or getting beat 30-0 by taters last season. Took the OC half the season to discover Jason Brown & bowl game prep to discover Dak Joyner.

Congrats to Huskers on a great hire! ;)

The same Jason Brown that couldn't start at VT. He didn't "discover" him. It takes time to get QBs ready to play. Ridiculous.
