A cop buddy of mine was one of the guys breaking them up.

The truly sad thing is one of the two coaches was on the SBBA board at the time. Both have since been banned for life from the ball park, but the damage is done.

That jackass that picked up the bat should have gone to jail.

why did Deputy Dawg feel like he needed to pack his heat while he was off duty? The article said something like "...handled the situation with his hand on his holstered weapon." (paraphrased of course)

/just wondering

from the ages of 9 to 13 and played ball at SBBA for 3 years. That is ridiculous, they take little league ball to seriously. I think it is funny since I played there though. I'm from Meridian and moved back here and one of my friends dad got into a fight with an umpire at Phil Harden. It's sad, but this happens more often than you think.

And I have one with me all the time. Matter of fact, have my piece sitting right next to me as I type this. It's becoming more common than you think.

i can see it. My son's team played a tournament in La. this summer and many of the coaches down there are nothing but punks. Arguing just about every call, bitching, whining. The opposing coach who was pitching at the time didn't like a call that the 2nd base ump made in a particular game and would turn around and glare at the guy before every pitch. Sad part is, they smoked our team pretty good. Sadly, I don't think those kids stand a chance down there. I can't imagine they even show up in a team picture the way those coaches were puffing their chests and gloating.

When my son was small we used to play in LA a lot and they sold beer at the ball park. They actually had beer competitions among the teams to see who would buy the most. Wonder if that was a factor? Our MS teams could never keep up with the LA teams ha ha

No alcohol at SBBA.

I did talk to my Slidell cop buddy about this case at dinner last night and he brought up 'roid rage as a contributing factor for this dubmass. Here's hoping he gets the full 60 days.
