Houston Top 5???
uh, hello? do you college football, bro?

They were 13-1 in 2015, finished top 10, pounded the ish out of Florida St in the Peach, and return a ton especially their QB who sliced & diced UL last year

As much as I don't like it, UL will have a pretty good team next season.
I personally don't see it. They weren't very good last year. Their offense turned into Lamar Jackson running around and making up plays with his feet. Their defense is decent but they lose some pieces of it.

From WDRB:

Sept. 1 – Charlotte -- the 49ers lost to Kentucky 58-10 last season.

Sept. 9 – at Syracuse -- the Orange welcome a new coach, Dino Babers.

Sept. 17 – Florida State -- the Seminoles expect to contend for the national title.

Sept. 24 – at Marshall -- the Thundering Herd finished 10-3 last season, losing at Western Kentucky.

Oct. 1 – at Clemson -- the Tigers are the likely pick for pre-season Number One.

Oct. 14 -- Duke -- the Blue Devils will play U of L for the first time since canceling a football contract with the Cardinals.

Oct. 22 – N.C. State -- Louisville's best regular-season win came at N.C. State in 2015.

Oct. 29 – at Virginia -- the Cardinals lost in Charlottesville in 2014 and the Cavaliers hired Bronco Mendenhall as their coach.

Nov. 5 – at Boston College -- Louisville has won three straight against the Eagles.

Nov. 12 – Wake Forest -- The Demon Deacons are expected to remain one of the weaker teams in the ACC.

Nov. 17/19 – at Houston -- the Cougars have made the Top 10 in several early polls for next season.

Nov. 26 – Kentucky -- the Cardinals will try to stretch their winning streak to six over the Wildcats.

I've got them at 9 or 10 wins. Their defense will be stout. They're an offensive line and receiver away from being a pretty great team ... and from Jackson being able to put up Heisman-level numbers.

Unfortunately for Louisville, an offensive line is kind of an important piece to lack.

The speed of Jackson was impressive in anybody's book.
Give BP the off season to build around Jackson and they will be a solid offense to contend with. I don't care for the guy at all but he is a excellent offense mind.

As far a "weren't very good last year" doesn't make you not good the next year. And as you point out there defense is decent.

Interestingly, they are opening with the same crappy OOC team (Charlotte) that they made fun of us for playing.....

Not that unusual, wonder wonder what their comments are about losing their home grown WR to OSU after all the fun they made of us losing our five star to a better program?

What makes that thread even more comical is that they also pursued, but failed to get, Harris. Conveniently, that part is not considered by the linebeards. There is one difference, at least; Harris didn't even give the Tards a sniff.

Syracuse and Virginia both with Solid hires ( Babers, Mendenhall). I think this is a very tough slate for UL

But, there is a reason why those hires were necessary.

And, the claim about Marshall above is irrelevant. They lose a great deal off this year's team. Hard for a CUSA team to lose that kind of depth and be as strong.

Someone should be fired if they can't win 9 games with that schedule. With all of those juniors foregoing the NFL draft to come back with Lamar, they'll be a tough team to deal with.

The lust and envy of UofL continues for fans who believe they have a better chance of winning the hand of a beautiful woman than beat Louisville in football.

I have the beautiful woman. I dream not about such things. But, am admittedly ready to win some football games against our rival.

Tony Vanetti predicted they will go 11-1 and his sidekick went with 10-2. I hope they are as delusional as I think they are.

you can take UL out of CUSA but you can't take the CUSA scheduling out of UL

I enjoy them getting what should be a beating at top 5 if not top 2 Houston the week before UK plays them
http://raycomsports.com/sports_labs_docs/m-footbl/2016_m-footbl_schedule-teams.pdf

They'll most definitely get beat at Marshall. One of the best home winning records in college football. They also haven't beaten them in over 35 years with some of the best teams Louisville has ever had.

Completely not true. They lost a ton off of the year before lasts team when Cato, etc. left. They've got a really good team who went through some growing pains last year due to youth and inexperience. With the game being in Huntington, Louisville will be lucky to keep it within 2-3 scores of Marshall. They just don't lose at home.

Let's see....Louisville can beat Notre Dame on their Senior Day but can't beat Marshall and Louisville going into 2016 will be Preseason Top 25 and Louisville bringing back the vast bulk of it starters...Marshall only brings back 4 Defensive Starters...ok

I do expect a tough game because will be coming off playing Florida State...also, all time Louisville leads the series...

You guys will beat Marshall. Let's not act like that Notre Dame game was some accomplishment though. At that point in the season Notre Dame was basically a mash unit. They regrouped, got healthy, and beat LSU, but at that point they were not even close to a cohesive unit. This is why no one takes you seriously. You inflate your wins and can't see the reality of the situation.

I see the reality of the situation....MASH unit or not with ND just pointing out while Marshall will be a good test but will not lose to them by 2 or 3 Scores as the above posted noted. And guess what years from now nobody would note that ND was banged up...what will be noted is Louisville went in there on NBC and won on their Sr. Day.....it is what it is...not too many programs have done that..

They lose some key pieces from their defense and Jackson won't surprise anybody this year. We'll see. I'm predicting 7-5 for them

laughable that you think anyone outside of 50% of the city of Louisville will give a **** much less reminisce about a meaningless pointless football game played November 2014

hey guess what Syracuse & fired Greg Robinson went into ND and won on a senior day as well. years from now it shall never be forgotten!!!

They should win 8-9 games with that schedule. 2 should be losses with FSU, Clemson, and two tossups in Houston and Virginia. I don't think UK beats them but I guess you can throw that one in there too since it's a rivalry game but that one is so far out it's hard to judge now. Defense should be good again but which Lamar Jackson are you going to get for next season? The one that toasted UK and A&M or the one that played rotate a QB all season? QB play will define their season.

Pretty much spot on...last two years went with a 8-4 Prediction...this year 9-3 with the toss up games with Virginia on the road and Duke at home

No way! Why are we exalting a Marshall team that loses key seniors over a UL team that loses only a few? UL should smash Marshall next year.

tellin you people, Houston will SMASH UL next year...along with everyone else on their schedule. Don't sleep on them. they will be a huge debate point on all the talking head shows all season long on them getting one of the 4 playoff spots over a Big 5 conference champ.

Louisville may lead the series, however they haven't beaten Marshall since 1980. In addition, I believe you and I both had this same conversation a few years ago when Marshall went into Louisville and beat you on your home field, yet again. You kept saying there was no way Marshall would beat Louisville at home and they did, I think by a fairly significant margin in a game that didn't seem really that close. I believe your QB was Teddy Bridgewater, too. I honestly don't remember though.

Bottom line, Louisville isn't beating Marshall any time soon, especially in Huntington. Marshall usually reloads with the exception of like 2005-2012. Unfortunately for Louisville, when Marshall reloads it's usually much better than when Louisville 'reloads.'

When Louisville gets a win in the modern series against Marshall, then we can talk. Maybe one day Louisville will be able to beat Marshall. Until then just take your inevitable loss and go home.

If you expect Mashall to beat an improved UL team, then we should expect UK to beat UL, as well. Marshall will be no better than UK. In fact, I expect UK to be better than Marshall next year. I am talking about NEXT year's teams. Not history or last year's teams. I expect UL to beat Marshall.

I don't think Marshall wins, but something else to consider is that game is sandwiched between FSU and Clemson.

No...we didn't have this convo in 2011....in 2011 Louisville was extremely young-(at that time the 2nd youngest team the FBS if I'm not mistaken) in and coming off a unexpected win at Kentucky....was more concerned about their focus-(hearing all week how great they are etc...etc) and expected a good game going into 2011 but not a certain Louisville win. Expect a good game this year for a different reason. Louisville will be coming off playing FSU and that will be an emotional game...Marshall will have this game circled.

But Marshall lost something like 7 starters off their defense from 2015 and around 4 Starters off their offense. Louisville on the other hand is returning something like 18 players that played the bulk of the minutes in the MCB including 10 out of 11 on offense and 8 players off defense that finished in the Top 20 Nationally.
