I didn’t like the finish reminds me too much of last year. Maybe we should keep some of the starters in I don’t like having our opponents thinking they can collapse us if they end the game with more pressure. We need to develop a killer instinct.
Uh, yeah, I kind of had that thought as well. It was a good thing the Cards were up 30 instead of 20, or it would have been a tight finish with Cards with that panicked so familiar "deer in headlights" look. Still, it's game 1, they did look outstanding except for the end, and the Cards are a legit 1-0 in first place in the ACC right out of the gate on Nov 5.
The biggest difference is all of our starters were out and there were 4 frosh on the court to close out the game. That was a good teaching moment for coach Mack and it didn't cost us the win.
I hope CCM learns from this put the freshmen in with 3 minutes left not 10. I want our team to learn how to go for the throat not how to give up a big lead and hang on for dear life.
Naw. These FR need playing time. It’s why they came to U of L. Plus it’s going to be harder when DJ and Williams are healthy. Hope some of them are patient. Williamson has already shown he deserves to play more than token minutes.
These early season injuries could work to our advantage as long as we don’t have some later. We can get some playing time for some of our other players before they come back and have a deeper and experienced bench. I think David Johnson will be a really impressive freshmen if they don’t redshirt him.
