this is connor shaw's first start in a SEC road game. He says we're due, and I agree.

when I was doing my Pick 'Em on ESPN this week, that occurred to me. There's nothing quite like an SEC road game. Here's hoping he wilts like Jermaine Whitehead's work ethic.

The fact that a prominent media figure is even considering us to beat the #15 team in country is huge. This would have never happened 3 years ago.<div>Even though our record isn't stellar,at leastthe some of the media is thinking we are "turning the corner". </div><div>Being a legitimate team in the media's eyes is huge. Hearing analyst open up a debate with the phrase "this is good Mississippi State team..." means a lot in momentum game. </div>

If we don't win this weekend I bet we don't even bother playing the following Saturday.

but yes, we do need a morale boost in the worst way. If we don't hit it soon, we probably won't salvage the season.

We have 3 wins and will be heavy favorites against UT-Martin, Kentucky and Mississippi. I don't see us losing any of those games.</p>

We had that when we were on several columnists/sports hosts preseason upset watch for both the Bama and LSU games. Now with the 0-3, likely 0-4 SEC start we are back to "same ol MSU" status. While a win against SC would be great, it doesn't bring us nearly back all the hype we had coming off the bowl win. At this point, the only thing that can be done to get attention again outside the SEC is to start winning at home, and to pull off a win against Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, or Bama.

I'm not saying that 6-6 and bowling isn't a step forward. LT and his cronies should have followed this model long ago. 4 winnable OOC games and 2 wins in the conference. Kentucky built a streak doing the same thing and saved Rich Brooks job and allowed him to retire a winner. I'm just saying that the small window of national respect was open for just a moment and we lost it after the Auburn game. Dan's going to have to pick up the recruiting and beat some teams he's not supposed to beat to regain any of that.

What makes you think you'd be "heavily" favored over Ole Miss? Don't get me wrong I think State will win but is there really a vast difference between the two teams right now?

While both teams can only manage to beat teams they should beat, ole piss had their bear *** handed to them by Vandy while State played the number 1 team in the nation and kept them to 19 points. It's going to be interesting if we do beat SC, and the bears get man handled by Bama, to see how you bears act come Sunday.

and still not have beaten one reasonably decent team.

Memphis (1-5)
Louisiana Tech (2-4)
UAB (0-5)
UT-Martin (FCS 3-2)
Kentucky (2-4)
Miss (2-3)

We may not actually even win all these but if we do it wouldn't be because of luck. We may need some luck to win this weekend however.

I will be interested to see what kind of state the OM program is in if they lose the next 3 weeks (AL, Ark, Aub) and drop to 2-6. The turmoil and Nutt naysayers may hit a fever pitch at that point and right now I don't see the Bears winning any of those 3. Auburn is the weakest team but that is the one that's on the road. You guys would have had a better chance to knock off Auburn back during the timeframe we played them. By the Egg Bowl I have a feeling there will be a number of Bear fans who would just as soon lose the game to quicken the exit of Nutt. Will be interesting to see how things unfold.

Alabama will destroy us. I think if we played Auburn at home we'd have a better chance but still lose. I only say maybe Arkansas because I could see Nutt pulling that one out somehow even though they are a better team. I don't know how much angrier fans will be after those three losses because most fans thought those were losses before the season even began. It's getting killed by Vandy and losing to a bad BYU team at home that really is the cause for the turmoil right now. Even in a rebuilding year those losses shouldn't happen. I think the only way Nutt is fired after this year is if we lose to La Tech at home and Kentucky on the road, so for that reason I'll be pulling for a win against State.

Since the mid-90s the home team has dominated the Egg Bowl, with just a couple of losses when the visiting team just simply had the much better team. In Oxford right now, I'd call this a tossup at best for us. In Starkville, it's a win. </p>

Of course, with our schedule there are very few decent teams. A lot of bad ones and a lot of very, very good ones. Only two that are just good and we're 0-1 against them so far.

But it is a must win to keep the season on some kind of positive track. We lose this one and we are hoping for a win in games we are probably going to lose just to make Nashville. Reality would prob be at best the Liberty. And I don't care what the public comments and coach speak say, morale is pretty low at the moment.
