Rumblings from his camp aren’t good
That’s just great, I had a feeling he would hang it up now. Magically the knee swells when he looks like dog crap for two games and this team sucks. I like JQ and hope he doesn’t quit, maybe he really is hurt but it’s coincidental at the very least.

I hope I’m wrong but he wasn’t going to make or break this team anyway. A lot of fans feel much better after the Miss St win but we were beyond awful for a stretch of that game just as we’ve been all year. We’re still a broken basketball team with a defeated (albeit a very nice person) as a coach. I thought JQ would help while NOT being our savior but he may very well shut it down now. We may still be in for a very long and ugly season.

They are weirdos for sure. They celebrate wins over lesser teams. Did it through Cal era also.
Shouldn’t we celebrate every win? I’d have trouble understanding fandom where you aren’t celebrating wins. 🤷‍♂️

- Being over Pope
- Unwilling to celebrate wins

^ Those don’t have to both be true for someone. I’d argue celebrating wins is fundamental to fanhood.

Was Pope and staff aware of his proneness to injuries before he was offered or were they caught off guard? Because Pope and crew shouldn’t have any injury excuses if they knew before offering.
How could they not be? I thought it was well known he played all last year hurt as well.
Here we go......

He literally missed TWO games over the course of last season. That's it. This was soley due to his freak injury in the BW game.

Nobody shot Lowe from the grassy knoll in the shoulder last season and tried to cover it up.
He played nearly the entire year last season with a broken finger. That was supposedly the excuse for his awful shooting. Kid is made of glass.
Some of them were on multi-year deals. I think Lowe is one of those guys. Hope I'm wrong.
MJ said Lowe was NOT one of the guys on a two year deal. Thank god.
I’m sad to hear it, if true
Why? I really don’t understand why anyone would be sad if he leaves. He can’t stay healthy and even when he plays he is nowhere near what we need to win a title. He’s a poor decision maker, horrible shooter and turns into a ballhog late in close games.

Welp. What else can you say? I figure it would happen. Will JQ wrap it up too?
We have to be on some kind of historic run guys we got all excited about and counted on who hardly hit a lick. How many is that now anybody git a full list?

Lowe's game does not fit with Pope's system. He is a lefty dominant over dribbler, that cant shoot the three (20% on season I believe). He was an absolute sieve on defense allowing players to bully him and shoot lay-ups.

This guy was way over-hyped.

I bet he has played his last game at UK

J Lowe did not have any major injury history before this season. He’s had ankle sprains before but nothing this significant.
He played all year with a broken finger. Also had a concussion late in the year I think. He’s made of glass.
You wouldn’t care what I have to say anyway really.

Here’s a song to get you pumped up about Mark Pope!
Actually I would. I like you and agree with your posts more often than not.

I believe Lowe is an outstanding point guard. I watched a lot of his film before UK — and I think he’s a legit stud. I’ll be very sad if we don’t get him back. We saw him at about 75%. If healthy, he was our best player.

The good news for Pope is that he has his built-in excuse that the season was a wash because of injuries. Just like Cal used the covid excuse for the 9 - 16 season. Those who buy into that will forget that we sucked even with Lowe available.
Dude maybe you should back off a bit. I get you're frustrated but the none stop bashing and conspiracy crap is getting old. Let the season play out.

He is not a good basketball player, he can't defend, he over dribbles, can't shoot a lick. He played on a bad Pitt team and racked up counting number stats that were meaningless to winning games.

A major whiff in portal by Pope.

Major whiff.

Oh not a broken finger. Because that equals a dude being injury prone. Are you serious? The guy isn’t Jordan but when you need a PG you get one who’s willing to come and play. I don’t turn away a guy because HE PLAYED through a broken finger. That shows grit.

You’d be real surprise how many player have played through broken fingers. Had nothing to do with being injury prone NOR predicting he’s gonna have a season ending injury.

Some of you are insanely ridiculous today.

Bet you are one of the ones that think Vanderbilt lied about his foot injury too.

I’d rather win than lose? Wrf kinda statement is this?

Nobody’s cheering like we just won a tittle. But I’ll be damn sure to not be upset after a win.

I’m positive we have a ton of lumps coming. Hence why I refuse to be down after a conf win. Every conf win is a good thing.

Anyone not a fan of Lowe is a complete moron.
The dude has a ton of game and gets where ever he wants on the court. I can't remember another pg here that made more of their driving floaters or contested lay ups.
The ones saying he looked to score and not pass.... If you sat and watched a stagnant offense get blown out every game, you may try to score a lot as well

The point is in the last two years he’s had a broken finger, concussion and separated shoulder that I know of for sure. Someone else said he also had a sprained ankle last year. He’s injury prone and you don’t risk your entire season being ruined bringing back an injury prone pg who isn’t even elite to begin with. If he was a Wall/Fox talent then sure, bring him back, but he’s not. Pope has had both seasons ruined by injury. He’s really risking his job, assuming he’s here, by bringing Lowe back for year 3. If another season goes off the rails for Pope for whatever reason then he’s done here. He’s fighting for his job at this point.

No. In the NFL, sure. But in college basketball where you play some god awful competition in the non-conference, no. I don’t even bother watching those games.

Sometimes my son’s team scrimmages against the B-team. Do I celebrate the 20 point victories? No. I could care less what Pope or any other coach do against cupcakes. What really matters is their win-loss recorded against quality competition.

His point is spot on. It’s not conspiracy stuff. It’s the most rational thing in the world to believe that a struggling coach will point to an injury as a convenient excuse for why the season didn’t go well (while leaving the part out about how it was NEVER going well).

Certainly PJ Washington comes to mind.
