That’s also called mismanaged roster, recruiting, lapses in hirings, all the things he was not brought here to do. Lowe is not a good PG, look at the data. If Lowe was good he would be retained, he’s not. He’s not efficient, he’s a clunker, he padded some PPG stats on an awful Pitt team. It was a blessing in disguise he was hurt. Lowe was on the floor during some of our worst basketball of the season. As we see, Kam didn’t help at all and we were blown out yet again with him. This team was a sinking ship full of players that don’t belong at UK. Like I said, “we lost our PG” in a vacuum without any context sounds legit. Applying context it doesn’t. We have the data on Lowe, he’s not a quality guard. And he’s gone for that reason.
You're saying the exact things we have all been saying here though. It doesn’t matter what side you're on, we all agree Pope wasted 22 million dollars. He screwed up bigtime and all we can do is hope he learns from that.
The bottom line is, there is no university that would fire Pope right now. Nobody. If he didn't make the tournament both seasons, sure, he would most likely be replaced, but nobody is firing a guy that just went to the sweet 16 last year, had more quad 1 wins than anyone ever has and did it after not having a roster in early April. Nobody would fire that guy and it would be wrong to do so.
You guys want him fired because you think there is no chance that he will ever be any good, but you don't know that. In my opinion, he can be good, he showed it last year. He had some blunders last year, but those are easily fixable.
He had injuries this year, put together a terrible roster and it's clear to me that this team had a bad locker room issue in November and they never bonded. They put on an act, but they never played together.
Pope gets a 3rd year to fix it, if he doesn't, he won't have very much support, if any.
