This was a certainty. After that initial injury, there was zero chance he would make it through. We're lucky we got as much as we did.

Go back to zoom and let bigs initiate everything. Moreno is probably our second best passer as is. Jq getting a higher usage will make his knee heal.

I believe Pope whiffed on our PG. Lowe is just not talented enough to play at Kentucky.
This offense would be so much better with a crafty and tough lead guard setting the offense and getting everyone on the same page.
There have been many issues that have thwarted this roster, but Lowe as starting PG is the biggest reason for this horrific season.

Losing Lewis really hurts.

Can Lowe still qualify for a med red? Injury can’t occur in the last half of the season. Was that technically the last half of the year? I realize I’m acting as though the NCAA has any integrity or consistency.

He’s only played in 9 games according to CBB reference. If that number is right, it’s the same amount Kerr played last year. I don’t know if he qualifies but I’d be ecstatic if Lowe got a medical redshirt. Two more years of him? Sign me up immediately.

Lowe can take his man off the dribble but he shoots too much and doesn't facilitate the offense.
He keeps the ball in his hands too much, the passing is was much better after he left, he mostly just dribbles and tries to create for himself. We had great ball movement last night and everyone was involved in the offense, that’s winning basketball.

I was kind of expecting it, not just because of Kentucky's luck, but after he bricked 2 free throws in a row I just felt he already wasn't right.
It's a shame but they just have to get along without him. They need to make up for him not being there with defense and offensive rebounding.
He’s a bad shooter it wasn’t his shoulder. That guy is just a bad shooter and every shot with him is an adventure.

Shut him down and have surgery. The team is actually better with the player rotation we had for the Purdue exhibition. The players don't know what to expect day to day like this. This would provide some continuity and help team chemistry and feel.

Grab a dynamic PG (Acaden Lewis) or bigger physical point similar to a Silas Demary in the portal. Shore up some other weaknesses like shooting and play making w/ 2-3 additions. If u do that and bring back a core of returning players along with Potter and Hawthorne, then I think we significantly improve.

If Jasper can let go and pass the effing ball to trigger our sets, he gives you more than Lowe. Jasper has a much higher ceiling. In this offense, he can go hunt his shot with off-ball movement and getting open for a higher percentage shot.
I’m to this point now. We can’t keep running Lowe in and out of the lineup. It just can’t happen. Much easier to slide a center back into a lineup than your starting PG. We desperately need to define roles and that can’t come to fruition with the Lowe situation. I’m not big on JJ, but he does have a higher ceiling and can shoot much better than Lowe. It’s time.

Dude shot 88% from free throw line last year. He’s just incapable of shooting with a shoulder brace. Hell, I don’t blame him. I like Lowe a lot, would gladly have him back.
Lowe is not good enough to play primary point guard on a contending team. He’s a Pitt guard, not a Kentucky guard. We would be in a much better place with a tougher, penetrating point guard that can shoot.

I respect the opinion, and I understand why most fans would say that given what we have seen in a Kentucky uniform. I base my view on what I’ve seen at Kentucky and acknowledging why he looked the way he did and combined that with watching his film at Pitt as well. I fully believe in Lowe. Healthy, I believe he was the best player on this team and we won’t get to see it. I’ll be upset if Pope doesn’t bring him back.

(Just so you know, I prefer bigger point guards. And yet I’m still very high on Lowe.)

My top 3 worst moments of recent times:
1. Shaedon Shady Sharpe
2. Wheeler skipping senior night
3. Reed basically saying we were good enough to carry his diaper

I’ll move Wheeler to 1. Wheeler was such a disappointment. He was
serviceable and a decent player. Absolutely won some games for us. Him deciding that he wasn’t getting his gravitas or kudos or whatever was so dismaying.

Sharpe was a situation that I’m still more mad at Cal about than him per se. I still think back to Cal jokingly acting like he was going to put him in during the Tenn blowout at Rupp. *******. Especially since Grady was out there playing with two broken feet.

Reed made a mistake with the shirt but I have no doubt he loves the Commonwealth.

Lowes is our best option but at this point we just need to shut him down. Get him healed up and hope he's ready to go for next year
No thanks. I don’t want Lowe here next year unless it’s absolutely clear he’s the backup pg. He’s made of glass. You don’t roll the dice on a third straight season being ruined by injury by rolling out a starting pg who has been hurt, with different injuries, the last two seasons.

Even if he did stay healthy all year I’m still not a fan of his game. He’s a poor decision maker and even worse shooter who tries to play hero ball late in games. If Pope hadn’t missed on all the other pg targets then he wouldn’t even be here to begin with.

0ne thing is for sure, it doesn't matter if Lowe is here or not, Pope needs to take the pg position a lot more seriously next year. If Lowe is back, fine, but he can’t just be given that spot, bring in at least one other top notch pg and maybe even a 3rd guy that is younger and maybe geared towards getting more playing time the next year.

That pg spot is the most important of the 5 and this is two years in a row now where we were too thin there and both times, our main pg's got injured.

I would absolutely want a healthy Lowe for 2 more years. But at the same time I think UK has to bring in two additional PGs. One being the best true PG you can land and let the competition sort it out between him and Lowe. In addition, I believe that you've either got to get a 3rd-string PG or likely a combo guard that has the handle to play the position in a pinch. Lowe is slight of build to begin with and no way, in my opinion, should UK gamble on him being healthy or maybe not the same player.

Um. No one else has. JQ's knee is literally swelling.

What a weird take.
Supposedly*…

It maybe ptsd from Cal but with how this season has gone I done trust that report of swelling one bit. Even if they posted a pic I would think it’s photoshopped. Maybe if his dad not made public comments showing that he’s not thrilled just days earlier then I might be more inclined to believe theres swelling.

Cal had a few teams that started two point guards. Other than something like that, I think it might be hard to have two quality PGs, coz someone would have to agree to be a bench piece.

I don't want to start two PGs. That's some Calipari rationalization to get more OAD high schoolers projected as draft picks (whether they played a day of college or not) instead of trying to put a roster together to give UK its best chance to win a championship.

I'll give you that it wouldn't usually be an easy thing to get two upperclassmen PGs who have both been highly successful. But Lowe's injury makes him enough of an unknown quantity - and, of course, we can't forget the $$$ available now - so that he comes back and UK is still able to bring in another PG. Maybe it has to be one on the rise or from a mid-major? I'm not going to claim I know for sure how it would work. But in my opinion it has to be done if anyway ($$$) possible.

I don't see Pope as one to fib about injuries. Might bend the truth on other things, but not that. Plus, now with sports betting and SEC rules you can't just make crap up completely.
