Has Loyola already basically won the 8A title by beating HF in the quarters? Or does anyone think Palatine can upset in semis or a Cinderella team like WV or Marist can take them down in DeKalb.

Nope. The only thing LA won on Saturday was a quarter final game. Beating OPRF and BR is not a small feat and I'm sure Palatine feels good about the way they're playing right now. On the other side, two teams tested by the DVC and ESCC are more than capable of bringing home the hardware.

It's over. Congrats to the Ramblers. Well deserved first title for Coach Holecek.

Every year on the board there is an early round game that everyone declares the state championship only to see the winning team lose in the following weeks. LA is the favorite to win it all but winning 7A or 8A is very tough and all 3 of the remaining other teams are capable of beating LA.

I agree with ClownB, this is just another playoff round. Prize isn't won until two more games. LA recently had been to the final dance twice and lost both times with commentators saying they had it. I hope they stay focused and away from outside factors other than family and homework. Go Ramblers!

LA certainly appears to have a path to the trophy. However, a couple key injuries or untimely turnovers can change that in a heartbeat. No one in any locker room is celebrating yet.

If LA wants to watch some video on how to beat Pal, check out the GW game last year. Palatine was going toe to toe through Q1 and pretty sure score was 0-0 going into 2nd. With 4 minutes left in 3rd quarter, GW pulled Brodner after 306 yards and 5 TDS.

Palatine pursues very well. GW adjusted and started hitting the line very quickly quick traps and sweeps where Brodner would plant and go. Watched the BR game and the Pal team looks much the same as the team we saw last year. LA would be wise to saty away from slow developing plays. Pal flows very well and they hit a ton. the Pal QB looks tough and will require the LA stout D to step up.

My guess is LA wears them down in the 3rd after half time adjustments. Beware though, overlook Pal and they will shock you.

The Palatine Coaching staff has gotten more out of less than anyone in the area. It would be foolish to think that Palatine cannot beat LA at this point of the playoffs. Furthermore, you still will have the WV - Marist winner to deal with in the finals.

In football more than any other sport, any given Saturday, and given team can beat any given team.

Well, that's the one thing I dislike...I agree with everything except the "out of less"...Palatine is a very talented team for a district restricted school. Everybody now knows of Matt Lamm and Zach Oles after the last two weeks, but we've known all along.

Not sure why Palatine hasn't gotten the publicity of a Barrington or Fremd before this..The last five years regular season Palatine and Barrington are both 34-11 in total, but Barrington is consistently talked about while Palatine gets the "cute upstart" moniker ; all the while Palatine has won the MSL West 4 of the last 5 year and this past Saturday was their third trip to the quarterfinals since 2010.

Heck, on this very board we weren't supposed to beat Sandburg; and did. OPRF's defense gives up only 11 pts a game and is gonna shut us down; we had 35 pts at halftime. Brother Rice's speed and size were supposed to overwhelm us; and while it did for quite a while, who worn down in the end and who scored 4 touchdowns in the last 12:40 seconds of the game? Sorry guys, they're good...time to admit it.

Also, I'll give you a heads up...Oles(QB), Turner (RB), Cornelius(slot..who's even faster than Cam was); O'Shea (WR who's the next big name you'll all know soon); 3 OL all return next year along with a sophomore squad who scored alot of points too means next year was the year everyone around PHS expected to get this far; this year is a bonus.

Thanks for the scouting report. I don't think anyone is selling Palatine short, especially LA.

LA biggest opponent might just be LA, as long they don't shoot themselves in the foot by overlooking/ or have a huge amount of turnovers in a game (which I haven't seen yet this season) Id be very surprise is they dont win it all.

There is a coach in Central Illinois who views his team's toughest opponent as itself. Someone forgot to tell the team they were playing this past weekend. But you are right, shooting oneself in the foot and/or losing the turnover battle sure can't help.
