Bigger than it should have been, really. EVERYONE in college football took note and even with something as simple as the LSU punter did, it can be interpreted as taunting. Apparently, that kind of thing is what the rule is "intending" to cut out. But this is me... don't give the officials, even with something that simple, ANY reason to make that call. What-so-ever. It's simple. Run your touchdown into the endzone, hand the ball to the official (throw in a point or something if you want) and go jump up and down with your teammates. But he knew the rule and with some officials, that's all it takes to get a penalty. Not saying it was a just call, just saying he had reason to make it. <div>
</div><div>The rule has always been in place, just now, the enforcement spot is spot of the foul not the succeeding spot. </div>

Call 15 yards on the XP or kickoff, but LSU earned a touchdown and should receive it.<div>
</div><div>What happens when this occurs at the end of a game? The refs will be crucified either way.</div>

There's nothing to say that "gesture", more a vague arm motion than an actual gesture, was even directed at the Florida players. It turns out it didn't matter one bit in the outcome of the game, but refs gotta know when to bite their $$*@#@! tongues on something that insignificant.
