3 very high profile coaching jobs available (so far). Might end up being 4 with Norvell. Wonder if there will be a coaching shortage. There aren't enough high profile coaches for all of those jobs.

Sexton will make bank, that's for sure.

When Saban retired, he leveraged the Bama job into a massive pay raises for Norvell, Sarkisian and DeBoer.

Does this make it more likely we don't make a coaching change? Not saying I am for or against just curious on likelihood.

It was always a low likelihood, but I would say it more or less guarantees it.

On the other hand, we would not be shopping for the same caliber of coaches as those programs, so maybe there's not much impact to our decision?

With this many openings now you're going to see upcoming guys from small schools get hired with massive contracts. Then the big names will start to get even more massive deals to lock them up.

Great news for Beamer. We can't wade into those waters, so we can't make a change even if we lose all our remaining FBS games and look hideous doing it.

Unless we fire Beamer and hire Kelly. Formerly successful coach out of work and in his 60s. Sounds right up our alley.

I think you have a point and I'm about to do a new post - open letter to the AD....While I don't think they actively read these boards, (they should, we *ARE* the diehard fans) - I do think some of their lackeys read them, even if they'll never admit it.... my open letter to the AD will make perfect sense from a logical and financial standpoint. Give me a few minutes to put it together.

I would not trade Beamer for Kelly. - I would hire Kelly as a hands on assistant, OL, clock/game management type thing..... just a general coach on staff that could coach what he sees is wrong type of thing.... That, I would do.

34-14 at LSU and gets canned. Shane Beamer 32-27 at SC and Job safe. That alone shows the difference between a historical good program and a historical bad one.

Truthfully, ACC football is more in line with our commitment to football. We are either not willing or are unable to go all in with what it takes to be nationally relevant in that sport. Now woman's basketball is a different story. As Spurrier would say, "It is what it is".

It will be interesting to me who Arkansas hires after having hired a coach with a background similar to Beamers the year before we hired Beamer.

There isn’t going to be a coaching change here. But in the interest of the question, as I wish there was an option of a change…If that was a consideration logic says change is less likely. Too many bigger jobs to compete against. There’s more big one’s this year than in 2015. That was one of the reasons we wound up with Muschamp. And who knows how jobs are now viewed in the NIL/playoff era. Maybe VT is a better job than SC now. (Maybe it has been already?)

However, given that the BoT has no interest in learning from past coaching contract mistakes maybe this Kelly thing makes it more likely Beamer goes.

At this rate there will be only one FBS school who retains their coach after the season - the one who wins the CFP.

Everyone else gets to play musical chairs as AD's try to convince their fan bases that a guy who didn't win it all at another school will find that success at their's... as long as they pay him more than he was previously and offer him a brazillion dollar buyout in case he doesn't go undefeated every season.

Can't say I see the wisdom in it... but when has that ever been part of the equation?

Kelly was a great coach at Cincy & had some really good teams at ND.
I really thought he would do better at LSU with the talent they usually bring in.
He should be a great hire for someone not demanding championships every year.
His independent schedule wasn't as strong overall as an SEC schedule plus some marquee non-conference games.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: we are mediocre because we tolerate mediocrity.

I think there was some foolishness with a school like PSU firing Franklin, and he probably survives this spell in other era where social media isn't a factor. But I'd rather be foolish in the pursuit of winning than be foolish with the complacency of mediocrity.
