As a longtime State fan this is my most dreaded week of the season. I hate OM but at least I get to enjoy beating them pretty often.

I hate LSU just as much and it sucks losing to nutria-eating swamp rats every year.

I'm hoping for a victory down there, but in order to preserve sanity I'm mentally preparing for the worst....which includes the following:

1. Giving up an early score. I'm prepared for us to look like we were unaware of the gametime and allow a ridiculously quick score to go down early.

2. Early three and outs. I'm prepared for some very conservative play calling against a hyped-up defense and ridiculous crowd noise leading to lots of early camera time for Devon Bell.

3. Backbreaking 3rd Down Conversions. I'm prepared to see us put LSU in several 3rd and longs, only to see a QB escape a sack and hit a well-covered receiver just past that yellow line. I've seen it before.

4. Drive-killing turnovers. I'm prepared to see us finally begin moving the ball only to lay it on the ground somewhere past midfield.

5. Missed field goals. No need to expand on that one.

6. Bad Mojo. I'm prepared to deal with the fact that Baton Rouge is just tainted soil, and the day after this game is the farthest we get from those God-forsaken toothless inbreds all year.

But I'm still hoping we win.

#1 has me LOL'ing out loud. It is so true, that's why it's funny, because, it's so true, hence, funny.

I'm not getting on the optimistic bandwagon either...

I respect DS's positive vibes but I'm a dark cloud all the way to my seat in Tiger Stadium Saturday. About 2 mins before kickoff I'll have a brief rush of optimism and somehow convince myself we have a chance. I'll cling to the last remnants of said optimism into the third quarter and then slowly move into acceptance as the game starts to look more and more familiar.

My thoughts exactly ...but for some reason this year I think I going to be more on edge about this game cause ... And I know it sounds crazy, but we just may have chance for an upset. Hence, I will pertake in an adult beverage until all the anxiety goes way and shout explesive remarks at my TV set the rest of the game.

i wish i could argue, but our games vs them are like groundhog day. maybe a couple of louisiana boys on our team can switch things up. we love playing like **** vs lsu....the way i see it, we might as well have fun with it, talk **** while we are still undefeated, and hope for the best.

That makes 2 of us on team dark cloud this week. I've found my best strategy going into Death Valley is to blackout during the first quarter. Makes it easier not to notice the peanuts hitting me on the back of the head that way.

And LSU has a way of playing like the juggernaut college team of the century against us every year. I don't know what it is, but if we played them at home in the last game of the year during a season when LSU was 0-11 up to that point, I'd still fully expect them to come to Starkville and beat us 56-7.

pretty sure those Louisiana boys were on the team that got scorched at Scott Field last year too. I just hope we keep it within 3 touchdowns and no one gets hurt.

I'm hoping for a change this weekend, but historically and statistically speaking, we just don't stand much of a chance. I don't want to be Johnny raincloud, but I've sat through sooooo many L's as my career as a Mississippi State fan, and I've learned not to get my hopes up too easily.

Well to be fair the guys (mett, Landry, hill, and Beckham) that beat us last year aren't there this year
