We didn't want either of these guys. I know that is the typical response when someone commits somewhere else, but in this case it is absolutely true.

Especially in-state kids?

When I hear about a talented in-state kid, I don't get my hopes up because Stans does a great job in the state of MS in getting the kids to sign with MSU.

Im hopeful AK can turn that trend around, but say what you want about Stans' coaching, he recruits MS as well as any coach in the Big Three sports, I think he is the best.

i wish we could land cothron this year, but it's not looking good. i'm not expecting too much from the 2010 class, because we're probably putting all our eggs in the 2011 basket. cory joseph came out of nowhere, though, and he could be a coup for this year (or any year).

as OMlawdog said, stans does a good job with MS recruits. case in point - charles rhodes and charles thomas were rated similarly coming out of HS. we definitely got the better charles.

Stringer obviously was nowhere on the radar. Came down to LUS or Bama. Even pimpcabbie passed on this guy.

I could care less about the 2010 class, but it looks like LSU is making in-roads in our backyard.
I don't want to lose out on Ross, Smith, Hood, O'Bryant, etc...
I am pretty sure Stans and the money men are already on this like a shoe sponsor on an AAU coach....

I would be concerned if we had wanted them but we didn't offer. I have faith in our staff recruiting and Fishwater99 atre you trying to say we buy players? Last I checked, the king of that is in Lexington Ky now and I thought Scotty Hopson's AAU coach helped Tenn as well. Give us some credit for outworking other programs because that is what really goes on in recruiting. If they don't like the program, money won't even turn them.

The only one I ever questioned was why we didn't seem to go hard after Courtney Fells from Shannon who went to NC State and had a nice career.

i actually almost typed that in my post. i never understood that either - my only guess is that he was set in leaving the state or something, so the coaches put their focus elsewhere.

we are going to have more competition for these 2011 players than any class ever before. they are BIG time. i know stans has been in these kids' and their coaches'/parents' ears for several years already, so hopefully we have a big head start.

of course we do that. But actually, its legal in college basketball right now- It's called AAU. If you dont think boosters are funding these programs, you're out of your freaking mind.

I know what kind of money it takes to have a summer baseball team that just travels around the state. I can only imagine how much it costs to have an AAU program that travels around the US playing. Those trips arent being funded on food stamps my man. And those coaches arent coaching for free.

Wake up and quit being such a damn little kid

That is still the first time I have ever heard that, and the fact that you know that game or call it that still disturbes me. Sorry I can't keep up with every joke on here. Have a little thing called a life going on.

You are still a sick 17 for knowing "anal intruder" was that the game you were playing when you got tagged with peaches?

like I said, giving all the money that we do to AAU is legal...but there is a reason AAU teams travel the country and their coaches do that as a full-time job- yet the parents of these kids are mostly inner-city and lower income families

Stans isnt dumb enough to pull a Tim Floyd, but he lets people know what AAU program needs help
