LSU really learned its lesson with Kelly's buyout...

Kiffin's buyout is $10.5 MM per year with NO offset by future employment. Did Landry have to approve this?

On the plus side, Kelly got 90% of his contracted pay, while Kiffin is only getting about 80%, so I guess they came out ahead.

BTW, I was certain Kiffin would come out of this as the highest paid coach, but he is still behind Kirby Smart. He does have a provision that he will become the highest paid if he wins a National Championship.

I am curious what the Bears were ready to pay to keep Kiffin. I think they probably would have gotten close to the $13M per year. There is obviously more to the calculus than that, though....

Yeah, who knows how much of all this you can believe, but my bet is that Kiffin’s contract was never the issue. It was being able to pay that while also committing $25M/yr to NIL, and I don’t care what anyone says… OM may have more than us, but they don’t have LSU/UF money. They were never gonna win this battle

I was told that Ole Miss had a contract on his desk since October for 13.5, comes from someone that has been pretty accurate on everything that has unfolded

That's what I heard.....about 13 mil per year plus major investment into the NIL fund.

I think he has the same chance of getting that bonus as I do...............................
He gets $150 K if they just make the playoffs, and another $150 if they win in the first round. Doesn't sound like much compared to his $13 MM salary, but I guess it was important to him.

I was replying to this from PapaDawg, " He will get $1M for an OM natty"
