I am listening to the game, but could someone tell me the rule that explains why when the batter just struck out and the pitch passed the catcher, the runners couldn't advance.
I would think on a pass ball, the batter would be out because the bases were loaded, but the runners onboard should be able to advance on a passed ball, just like a triple steal in that situation.

The ball hit the batter on the foot after he swung at it.

Because the ball hit the batter on the back foot, and he swung at the pitch, he was out.

I think it's because the ball hit the batter first after the swing, so the play was not live.
