When we start winning games, we'll get the better time slots. Even as bad as Mississippi is underperforming this year, they're still going to have a better season than all but 1 of ours this decade has been.

ESPN/ESPN2 is 1x per year.

is that Mississippi always shows up for this game, and they figure it will get a large rating, and it probably will. It gives them a chance to get somewhat redeemed for their sorry performance this year, and another chance that the LSU will lose another one.

Hate us or what have you, we still have a winning record going into LSU. It less conspiracy and more logic...

You just have to have the most attractive game of the day. When we play LSU, these are the other SEC match ups:

MSU at Arkansas
FIU at Florida
Kentucky at Georgia
Vanderbilt at Tennessee
UT-Chatt at Alabama

That's just the way it falls sometimes. We'll be either 7-3 or 6-4 against an 8-2 LSU team. None of those other match ups even come close.

has more to do with the fact that there just isn't any other good games to compete with OM/LSU for that time slot.

I'll take the 6pm slot every single week if possible

it may have had more to do with the other sec matchups of the day. but i don't think we were the primetime espn game.

the um-lsu game being at 2:30 makes sense. </p>

Most high school prospects think it's more prestigious to play at 6pm on ESPN with Erin Andrews in the house.

LSU has no true rivalry. They have some interesting past rivalries like Ole Miss and Tulane. In the SEC West, the closest thing may be Alabama.

[Not to churn up this discussion again.]

Alabama definitely means the most to them right now primarily because of Saban. They are like Arkansas in that they have never had a built in rivalry. They obviously consider us a rival though since they proposed a trophy for our game. And the Arkansas rivalry is still in its youth, though it may grow legs. Alabama really can't ever be a huge rivalry game though because Alabama would never consider the LSU game to be any more than the 3rd biggest game on their schedule at best behind Auburn and UT.

The same can be said for Auburn since they have Bama and Georgia both ahead of LSU on their list at a minimum.

Arkansas, due to Nutt, has circled the Ole Miss game more than any other on their schedule these days, but that game, much like LSU-Bama has never been what anyone would consider a true rivalry game, and at best Arkansas will never be more than the 3rd most important game on our schedule at best behind MSU and LSU.
