They would not have called the meeting for tomorrow if they didn't already have the votes lined up to expell LSU. You can't take that vote unless its going to pass.

They might even have a school lined up to take LSU's place.

But, I don't think it will get that far. Hopefully, they don't actually vote.

Exactly. It would be a disaster for the SEC if they flowed through in the empty threat. And then the Big 10 would happily take them & get a strong foothold right in the heart of sec country.

Agree with this. The race to be the most relevant super conference is real and this would be a significant move for B1G.

I did not read the entire thread so if Germans I apologize:

SEC had multiple angles in this lawsuit and I do not think it was ever intended to kick LSU out but it is about the SEC having the right to do it by establishing SELF-RULING as rule of law. This is not just an SEC thing either. The BIG Ten has also addressing the right to self-rule.

Once that gets established.... LSU or anyone else will have to clear that SELF-RULING before they can do anything.

I think it's crazy to think of kicking LSU out of the SEC, but I also think that this is more related to telling Lane to coach football and cut it out with all the circus antics....... and I do think there is a certain level of this, that is telling LSU, reign him in and give him some boundaries.

The funniest thing about all of it is that going through an NFL training camp doesn’t really mean anything at all, except that they got paid (very little) to play football for a little while.

I’m not a Kiffin shill, but these players really are no different from 100% of P4 players who are all - make no mistake - also being paid to play football.

The outrage is being manifested only by those who are all still trying to gaslight themselves into believing that we aren’t operating in a purely pay-for-play system in college sports.

Uh no. Most of the Programs had no intention of trying to bring back guys who had signed a contract with an NFL team because it was an absurd idea to 99% of them. A couple of coaches looked into it and found there were a couple of guys who had not signed a pro contract. They brought those guys in with the hopes that might be a loophole. Lane Kiffin with the blessing of every human being who ever donned A purple and gold shirt, went recruiting them even if they had signed. Muscona knows what happened.

Saw a clip of Josh Pate on the Rich Eisen show last night that’s basically what he said. Among other things. Said he can't imagine LSU not in the SEC and would be shocked if they kicked them out. Said he thinks it's like when your parents threaten to ground you for a year, and then when they ground you for a month, you're like whew. Lot of sabre rattling going one here.

This is it.....the worst thing that the SEC can do to LSU is expel them. The SEC is seeking confirmation of their authority to do that, which at the same time leaves any other punishment option available as well, as every other punishment option falls below expulsion. If it's confirmed you can do the worst thing you can do, then the other party has no leg to stand on to complain if you impose literally any lesser punishment instead. That's the goal of this lawsuit.
