I don't see as many intriguing state championship games this year like in the past. Althoff vs Phillips looks interesting but that's about it.

I don't know. Unless Libertyville's defense is really, really, really, really outstanding, Brodner is going to get his yards which will include at least a couple of long ones. I know Lees is good, and not the only weapon on that team, but GW's defense wins it for them IMO.

That's my thinking as well. Libertyville's defense will have to unworldly. Not like GW can't throw it either,...

Some great story lines in this one...

1) POY race- wonder if either will play some defense if the game is tight late
2) Lville has come out fast and then teams have adjusted and slowed them down in the middle quarters this postseason...interesting to see how GBW attacks Lees
3) is lville's defense good enough to handle brodner and the physicality of GBW?
4) GBW has a lot of history in recent years against NSL teams
5) the injury factor...I know from the Lville side their RB did not play this past week, not sure what the GBW injury situation is

You will see the two best players in the state. Expect both Lees Brodner to have a couple of big plays. Brodner is unstoppable and Lees admiringly just had his worst game of the year - 29 for only 227 and 3 TD's. Yeah, like that really sucked!

I guaranty you GW will play some defense if the game is tight

This game will be similar to 2012 title game vs LWE and Tommy Feusel. Except GW adds Brodner on their side and question is whether Lville has anyone close to Langendefer on their side. Lees may be better than TF, but not by much.

I disagree wassup, I really like this match up...the others you are correct...are blah.

I think this game is a total pick'em.

I think GW's offense is just good enough to put up enough points to win this game.
I think L'ville's offense is dynamic enough to put up enough points to win this game.

or in another way:

GW's offense is slightly better than L'ville's defense.
L'ville's offense is slightly better than GW's defense.

Plus, there is the POY factor: similar to Westerkamp vs Isaac.

I think Montini-CM will be a great game, and if it's a dry track with little wind, I'll set the O/U at 75.

I've been working on this game for a few weeks. GW ' s offense needs to hold on to the ball, and if they can do that, they can easily score 30+ on Lville. My biggest concern about GW offense is the sideline issues. The OC seems slow or confused. I nearly threw snowballs at him yesterday.

For Lville 's offense, they have a very big problem. GW doesn't have to stop Lees, just slow him down. And I think they slow him down a lot, at least enough to force them to get more people involved in their offense. Once they do that, GW will win, and win big.

There is not a single player in Illinois that can beat GW. GW will be the 7A Champs, 38-17.

Riley Buncic Is the mlb for libertyville and while lineman kimpler gets all the attention, Buncic is the best player on the defensive side - should be fun to see how he does against brodner

I watched the L'ville BB game replayed on Comcast Sunday. Actually just the second half. The announcers were saying Lees was wearing some kind of shoulder harness. Any one know about that?

Good catch in their part. It's his non throwing shoulder he's worn it all season. Don't know if it's for precaution or when he hurt it.

I also heard (here I think) that the L'ville fullback did not play in the BB game. Know anything about that?

When and where is the pre-game party for our boys?

Dean, you might as well try to get some enjoyment from the day in DeKalb before the game, although, personally, I will just wait for the post game celebration.

I always feel better about a game this year when Dean in backing the GW opponent.

Moderwell didn't suit up - I know he hurt his shoulder against Normal. Don't know how serious it is. The kid replacing him Jason Tse has played very well in his absence.

I'll see what I can find out.

I think CM is going to have a tough time putting up points against the Montini defense. Montini by three scores.

I guess GBW has a better chance against an NSC team on a neutral site than at home. 1-2 the last 3 at home 2-0 on the road.

GBW heavy favorite

Newt, as usual, there is little to no relevance to your posts directed at me. At least Dean and MW make an attempt at some (sarcastic) humor.

Relevant enough for you to read them I see. Good luck to the toppers. I enjoy coach Hetlet and will root for him as always.

My point for someone as brilliant as you is that the NSC has had very good success vs GBW. In specific, the last two playoff losses by GBW came to NSC teams.

Now Libertyville isn't LZ on defense or evene Stevenson for that matter. So we shall see if the wildcats can keep it close. Hope they represent the NSC well.

For someone as brilliant as you I would think you would understand this a bit better. Alas maybe not

Yea, everyone knows GBW is the favorite, and I suspect Lees will be slowed enough to gibe GBW the win. I hope it's a good game.

Fatty's at 10 a.m. @DeanOfSelection.

Should be a good crowd there, with Naz-LWW on TV. I'm not going to sit in 30 degree weather to watch Naz running clock a team.

WIll be interesting to see how easily GBW is able to run the football...Lville has been pretty good against the run this year. Other than one kid from DGN, (32 carries for 120 yards) no one else has rushed for over a hundo. Obviously, Brodner's the best RB they've seen all year tho.

Brodner gets 175, GW by 10. Lees is great, and carries his team, but the collective strength of the GW D and the power of the GW O carries the Hitters.

GW over L-Ville, 27-10.

Wow sounds to me that Libertyville has little chance. Hope they can make a game of it. Kinda reminds me of a couple other occasions when GBW hosted a certain NSC team and no one gave them a chance either.

Libertyvilles defense is better than people give it credit for - particularly against the run.

While both teams have run it with great success, I think the team that can throw it most effectively will win this game. GBW Has a very good QB who flies under the radar because of Brodner. I would expect GBW to test the Wildcats secondary early. And vice versa for Lees testing the GBW secondary.

I still think GBW wins but this should be a tough game 31-28 that kinda thing.

I'll go with 35-21. Lees breaks free twice and goes over the top once.

GW mixes it up and opens up the playbook and Brodner gets 4.

Cap, having seen Lville play a couple times this year, I don't think anyone on their D brings the same level of play as Langenderfer.

GW D gives up one Lees TD run early on, and then settles in before Lees gets one more late in the game: GW 31 Lville 14

So far the hitters look like they'll win this. Brodner is great but one thing that stands out is how tenacious every single player blocks when they don't have the ball. Outstanding.
