I think this is going to be a good matchup. Massey has the Vikings as 6 point dogs. They have one common opponent: Belleville East. LWW winners 24-7 in season opener at IWU, StL winners at BE 25-16 in the “opening round”.
LWW has a quality win against LWC in what I’m assuming is a rivalry game. LWW was also 3-0 before getting thumped pretty handily by a winless (at the time) Lockport team. Don’t know much else about LWW. Unaware of any notable players or injuries. In the limited film I’ve seen, they run what I’d describe as a “blue collar” offense. Power RB/QB rushing attack with enough passing to keep a defense honest.
StL had its regular season struggles (mostly self inflicted). I’d say their schedule was overall tougher than LWW. Despite their record, they held their own against some pretty good teams. One blowout loss to Prospect early in the year. Very young team that went through ALOT of injuries, some season ending. However, they seem to be growing up and getting healthy at the right time. A few less penalties, and their most recent game against 8-1 Plainfield South could have been a lopsided victory. Despite being much younger, StL has outmuscled their first two senior heavy playoff opponents, particularly on defense. This will be a home game for the Vikings.
Looking forward to a good game Saturday.
