I think this is going to be a good matchup. Massey has the Vikings as 6 point dogs. They have one common opponent: Belleville East. LWW winners 24-7 in season opener at IWU, StL winners at BE 25-16 in the “opening round”.

LWW has a quality win against LWC in what I’m assuming is a rivalry game. LWW was also 3-0 before getting thumped pretty handily by a winless (at the time) Lockport team. Don’t know much else about LWW. Unaware of any notable players or injuries. In the limited film I’ve seen, they run what I’d describe as a “blue collar” offense. Power RB/QB rushing attack with enough passing to keep a defense honest.

StL had its regular season struggles (mostly self inflicted). I’d say their schedule was overall tougher than LWW. Despite their record, they held their own against some pretty good teams. One blowout loss to Prospect early in the year. Very young team that went through ALOT of injuries, some season ending. However, they seem to be growing up and getting healthy at the right time. A few less penalties, and their most recent game against 8-1 Plainfield South could have been a lopsided victory. Despite being much younger, StL has outmuscled their first two senior heavy playoff opponents, particularly on defense. This will be a home game for the Vikings.

Looking forward to a good game Saturday.

Can someone explain why that game is at St. Larry? I thought 'Opening Round" games did NOT count towards hosting games?

LWW guy here- I do think this could be a tight, entertaining game. As I have stated in other threads, LWW lives and dies by their defense. They have zero high level talent, but are always very well coached and play tough. Secondary has some speed but not big. LB Collins is the anchor and flies around. You nailed it offensively- run, run, run, maybe sprinkle in some passing looks. McNulty is a good WR, but he is the only threat. QB has a cannon but struggles with touch passes. He can change the game with his legs. Cliche but I do think turnover could ultimately decide this one. LWW wants to chew up clock, grind out games. Looking forward to it.

Would you except "I checked it and it's right"?

If not it hurts my brain to try to come up with a good explanation as to why it's right.

Here is a feeble attempt to explain:

Everything is exactly like it used to be deciding Home games

EXCEPT ONE THING

ALL BYE TEAMS get a Home game in the first round, regardless of whether there is an upset in the Play-in round, or not. This is what throws everything into the gutter because StL won an upset game, but does not get Home field in the first round. BUT they are still owed a Home game because they won an upset game in the Play-in round.

See, nothing to it. :ROFLMAO:

The explanation is the same as always.

St. Laurence was on the road in the opening round and won. Going into round 1, they had zero home games but so did the team with the bye. Since they both had zero home games, the team with the better seed hosted. Which put St. Laurence on the road again. Now in round 2, LWW hosted Mundelein in the opening round and St. Laurence has zero home games. The team with fewer home games hosts, so St. Laurence hosts because 0 is less than 1. Hopefully that makes sense!

That will always be how the home field is determined. Count the home games, if tied the better seed hosts. If not tied, the team with fewer games hosts. The opening round switched a lot of traditional second round road games for top seeds when there is a small upset by seed. But since a lot of those teams hosted the opening round, it is 1-1 and the better seed is now hosting round 2

Nothing has changed. Whoever has hosted less home games, gets to host. Tie goes to higher seed. LWW 1 STL 0. It’s not that complicated, even for a Rita man😉🤣
