Don't know if anyone has ever had this idea before, but here it goes. We could always ad some concrete stands in front of the m-club. I think Georgia Tech did something similar to this in the late 90's. This would eliminate the blow up helmet that so many people just love. Have the visiting team come out of the tunnel on the left. And if they ever move the recruiting center from that building they could make a tunnel directly from there into that section and make it a second club level area like the Suntrust club @ Turner Field. I would stick the band in one of those corners to free up the sideline section on the east side. I figure this would add around 3,000 seats, 2,000 in the middle section and 500 in each side section. What yall think.

with the thought that we would be bowling in the other side. I thought it would be a good idea to do some arches, similar to the LA Coliseum, from the M-Club to each side. This would help make the jumbotron look more integrated rather than an isolated large wall (view from the Junction) - here are my ROUGH, ROUGH drafts...

Perhaps it is my anti-USC bias showing through. But nothing about a Roman (or LA) coliseum fits our southern culture or architecture on campus.

I don't want anything remotely related to Ed Orgeron anywhere near our program. Building Scott Field on top of an indian mound has already caused us enough problems as it is.

Instead of arches you could do squared off columns similar to the Sanderson Center, with black iron gates between the columns - but on a much larger, thicker scale. Again, just spit-balling here.

Both the hump and the chapel have arches (of course they're totally different)

the guy won 11 games his whole career, was never All-SEC, and never led the team at tackles. By the way look for Chris Draft to start over Culberson to start the year. If he does big deal....i.e. Tommy Kelly.

but if my memory serves me correctly Norwood holds school records, was All-SEC preseason and post season and was DRAFTED. I forgot, Culberson is not even in the top 5 in any statistical category. Norwood rewrote that section on the media guide through his accomplishments. By the way, your stalking of my posts is a little creepy dude.

So, in your mind, Culberson is overrated because he never led the team in tackles (even though he did in fact lead the team in tackles his senior year), was never selected for pre or post season awards (although he was in both 03 & 04 & probably 05 & 06 thought I can't find that info right now), was on a team that only won 11 games during his career, and was undrafted. Yet, since Norwood set records and was drafted, it doesn't matter that the teams he was on sucked from a record standpoint. Did it ever occur to you that part of the reason Culberson might have been undrafted was because he played 4 different positions in his 4 years: CB in 03 for 8 games until he broke his leg, S briefly, OLB, and finally MLB. Is it possible he was undrafted simply because he was inexperienced compared to other LB in his draft class? Maybe I see things differently, but the fact that Culberson has made a team as undrafted FA, much less is in a position to be competing for a starting spot, means he was UNDERrated by scouts prior to the draft, not overrated.

I love the fact that you edited this post to add that message but still didn't correct the very first sentence, which makes you look, well, like a dumbass. What's the definition of irony again?

he was the #4 safety in the country coming out of high school and never reached elite status in college. He was one of the better players we had during his tenure at MSU but was he ever considered a top ten player at CB, S, or LB? No. In fact on the link you provided he was listed as the #26 MLB his final year. #4 to #26. That's all I am saying. Was he valuable while he played for us? Yes. Was he one of our better players? Yes. Did we all enjoy watching him crush people? Yes. But was he on the same caliber or will he be remembered as say Jerious Norwood? No. J-Rock was the #26 rated RB comming out of high school and left the #8 RB going into the NFL by the way. Thank you to scout.com for the ratings.

The reason Culberson was undrafted was because he did the fewest bench press repetitions at the combine for all linebackers in the draft. His big knock was his strength.

My guess is that a) he would have been drafted if he possessed just average strength and b) he has become a much more effective player in the NFL with the strength added by being a professional.

For those who say Culberson was overrated, you are probably somewhat accurate because he was the consensus best player in the state coming out of Provine and he got shown up his entire career by Patrick Willis, who was a 2-star nobody. However, please also recall that Culberson had a serious knee? injury his freshman year and has never fully recovered the speed he had (i know he's gained significant weight since then as well, but you get my point). I wouldn't classify a player that has a serious injury as overrated. Bo Jackson had all the tools to break every NFL rushing record. He had a career-ending injury. Does that mean he was overrated?

ran a 4.8 40. He broke his leg which is a lot different than having an entire hip replaced. There I'm done. Back to the stadium expansion.

included in the new expansion but I think the stands should encompass the M Club. It would be unique to any stadium in the SEC to have a field level building inside of the stadium with a Jumbo-tron above them. We definitely need more boxes and "Club" level seating to add more revenue.

Thats one of the main things i like about byrne is that is so pro-active in going out and finding ways of bringing in money for the Athletic Department. In Veaz's interview with him the other day i think he mentioned finding a way to put in more club or luxury seating to raise football revenues. I think he also mentioned there was a waiting list for both skyboxes and club level seating. dunno for sure though. what i'd like to see is the stands extended and attached to the side of the m-club, then build skyboxes or a club level on top of them and attach it to the m-club, making it one big club level style seating

I've heard that the next project for the department is to put out plans to upgrade the west side chairback area into something similar to the Club Level. I think the idea is to issue the plans for bids in time to have a contractor lined up to start right after the season is over. That makes sense as the people already sitting there can either up their base donation to keep their seats or those on the waiting list can replace them.

than I even gave you credit for.

What part of being the #4 rated safety coming out of high school has any bearing on being the #26 rated MLB coming out of college? If he had been the #26 rated SAFETY coming out of college, then you would have a point. Being the #26 rated MLB coming out of college after only 2 years of ever playing the position actually shows a remarkable amount of talent & ability. He was not an all world LB at MSU and most likely won't be as a pro. However, to say he is overrated after making a team as an undrafted FA and now being in a position where he has a chance to start in a position where he only played for two years of his life is assinine at best.

Insisting on comparing him to Norwood is stupid as well since Norwood played RB probably most of his life and definitely played it exclusively for seven or eight years prior to being drafted.

where you are coming from with your argument. He was a bright spot during a horrible time. Therefore you label him a total success that lived up to everything we all thought he would be. He didn't. I guess we should take all of our top 5 rated players and move them to other positions where they will flounder in mediocrity and justify it later. Your argument is an interesting one but one I disagree with. Why is that so hard for you to accept? I consider his career a good one but when I hear that we have a high school Parade All - American coming to play for us I, like many people, expect a phenomenal career not a just "good" one. What difference dose it make anyways? I hope he succeeds just as much as anyone. Drop it.
