I think it is a little unfair to characterize him as a "fourth string" QB. the thing is we do have some other good candidates and no doubt MOST freshmen QB need to redshirt no matter how good they are unless it is an emergency.
At this point, Barker is the starter and Johnson is pushing him in the backup role. As things stand now, Mattingly is our 3rd string quarterback. Hoak is headed for a redshirt, which is exactly as it ought to be. Almost all SEC quarterbacks need a redshirt.

Lol I guess Mac is a liar then if this is a dumb post. Dont be so insecure about it he said he is staying with Kentucky and I take him for his word. A man is inly as hood as their word so relax he will be cat unless Mac has no integrity.
I never de-committed, but I still remember how tough the process was. It is naive for you to say high school players who change their minds don't have integrity. On our current roster are Eli Brown, Marcus McWilson, Denzil Ware, all 3 of whom de-committed from other schools so they could play at Kentucky. So you are saying that Brown, McWilson, and Ware don't have integrity. You are wrong. Under the rules, no commitment is binding until the letter of intent is signed in February. Until then, players have a right to change their minds. We don't know what conversations occur between players and coaches. Fans act like these kids owe us entertainment, but these guys are making 1 of the most important decisions of their lives. It's really unfair for fans to judge players without knowing what goes on behind the scene. I want Jones to play for Kentucky. But if he changes his mind before February, that's his right. It would not make him a bad person.

My gracious. Our fans continue to support UK football (and rightfully so) as "we want desperately to win" yet feel we haven't won (outside a couple blips of success followed by probation) since the Crusades. 2015 didn't help our psyche. We are all holding our breath yet again displaying hope, but prepared for the worst....since the forties.

Nose tackles currently on the roster: Elam, Pringle, Hyde. Other returning defensive tackles: Meant, Middleton, Dubose. True freshmen: Cross, Looney. Commitment: Bohanna. So you are right in suggesting that we don't have enough defensive tackles. Coach Stoops really needs solid contributions this year from Middleton, Dubose, and Pringle, all of whom are very inexperienced. Ironically, as quality depth on our offensive line has improved, depth on our defensive line has gone in the other direction. This may force Coach Eliot to use Looney as a true freshman, especially if Dubose isn't healthy. Of course, it would be great to get a 2nd commitment from a defensive tackle in our 2017 recruiting class. But numbers are already an issue. Only 8 seniors are listed on scholarship in 2016. With 11 commitments in 2017, the math says we are already projected to be 4 players over the roster limit, even after LaRubbio is gone. My guess is that Stoops would take another juco defensive tackle at the end of his 2017 class, if a scholarship opens up.

If Provitt has a good year, maybe he is that JUCO DT.

Not trying to hijack this thread since it's about a QB, but your list looks really thin until you put those guys in just 2 positions - NT & DT. There are some guys @ DE, too, so that makes depth look better (even though it's quite unproven) as far as bodies

DT - Meant, Middleton, Calvin Taylor (No seniors)
NT - Elam, Pringle, Hyde, Dubose (no seniors)
DE - Miggins, Bell, Ke Daniel (only 1 senior)

Incoming: Looney, Cross

You could argue that guys like Bell or Hyde may never contribute, and Taylor may eventually project to OT, but isn't that why you continue to recruit?

However, considering only 1 loss on the 3 deep after 2016 (that doesn't even include Looney & Cross), total numbers don't look bad. Unproven, resounding YES, but there are guys to teach/coach.

Your lack of punctuation made your message unclear. LOL

This is why we need an early signing period for football. Don't make these kids wait until February to sign, let them sign in September so they can focus on their senior seasons without having to deal with the recruiting hassle.

^and a kid like Jones is exactly why the Urbans and Sabans of the world will fight like hell to prevent an early signing period. They love having the flexibility if one QB recruit doesnt work out in late January, go grab a committed recruit from a school like Kentucky.

This should happen...bb has it and no reason for FB not to...dosen't mean the kids have to sign, but at least the kids that want to can and I think it makes a more level playing field.

You eitber take his word or you dont and worry yourself sick. Ill take hus word give him benefit of doubt since he said it himself that he has made his choice and ready to do great things at Kentucky. Worry about it if you want I think he still will be a cat cause well he said he is.

Bama pushing hard for West coast dual threat qb this week. Apparently over stayed his visit and some bamers are expecting him to commit. Looks like Mac was 3rd in a group of 3 to get hard looks from Bama this past week.

Out of curiosity, why is this post the dumb one of the day/week? Seriously asking.

No problem. If you read down, you would see that I misread the post due to the lack of punctuation. This is what I read:

"AAAHHHHHH MAC HAS ALL READY SQUASHED ALL THE BULL $#!+ From his lip ..."

I am starting to understand why you have 17,000 posts and only 300 "likes." Seems UL fans love your posts.
