Macey Hodge made her NWSL debut tonight

She plays for Angel City FC. I don’t know if she’s the first State player to play in the NWSL, but we can’t have had many. Hannah Johnson is also on the team, but wasn’t in the lineup.

She started and did pretty well and got a lot of mentions. One of her teammates referred to her as “The Scorpion” during an interview.

She started the sequence that led to Angel City’s only score. Also, staying on brand, she got a yellow card within the first ten minutes of the game.

Proud of her getting the start. First State player I’m aware of getting a start at this level. Bit of a rough start with the yellow, but she settled in and did ok. She’s playing with & against good national team players, so it’s definitely a different level of competition. But she more than held her own.

Tackled a girl from behind (kind of from the side). I thought it was kind of borderline, but the ref was yellow card happy. Gave out 5 in the first 30 minutes.
