and Stout will be back or at least this is what the Bear faithful will tell you......I can tell you this, they are in dire trouble come this fall......I don't see them winning but maybe 5 games, max......Their season should be considered very, very successful if they win 6.......

they are facing.

They lost a DL. They dont have Shackleford. They didnt have a defensive backfield to begin with.

I dont think they will be Michigan bad on defense, but they wont be competitive.

Offensively, they are going to have to PRAY that the OL steps up because whomever is at the qb is going to need alot of time to find receivers.

Their rb's are good enough to compete in the sec, but that wont get you a win.

basically, they hvae no strengths. And their coach is not good at handling the pressure when an SEC fanbase gets on his ***.

They have some good running backs. SEC quality backs, but no Heisman trophies are headed that way. If they are expecting those guys to carry this team they are in deep, deep trouble.

When Bradley "Matador" Sowell is the anchor of your offensive line, you're gonna have problems.

Favre may prove to be a good QB, but at this point he has never taken a snap in a college game at any level.

Favre had an excellent HS career, but Mackey's HS resume is strong. And Mackey also has a pretty strong juco resume.

In time, Favre may turn out to be the better SEC player, but its way to early to say one will be a better SEC player over the other.

We basically only need Favre to be a back-up... You Gus need Mackey to be a starter to be successful- huge difference

The fact that our guy currently running 3rd string might be better than your starter should scre the hell out of you

or do I see Mackey listed as 6'0". So adjust for internet ******** that puts him at 5'10". I thought we had all agreed long ago that any QB 6 foot or under can't be any good. Why are we having this discussion?

ETA: It is EXTREMELY rare for any QB to be a huge factor his first year in D1A. This is why most people don't go to JC for QBs. Ole Miss pinning their hopes on this guy would be just as funny as us thinking that you could hand the team over to Favre and expect us to kick ***.

The original poster made the comparison. I would have never made that comparison. I don't think Favre ever takes any meaningful SEC snaps for you unless disaster strikes.

I think Mackey has some potential. Our WRs may make him look bad, but I've watched him in spring practice twice and he looked pretty good. I'm not predicting ALL-SEC good, but solid.

If you are comparing 3rd string QBs. Favre vs. Brunetti would be more accurate. And I think its was pretty clear that you guys pursued Brunetti as one of your top targets for the QB position very early during recruiting a few years back. Favre was obviously more of a backup plan who wasn't offered until just before signing day. So based on your staff's recruitment of both players, I'd say Brunetti was mover coveted.

It's a weak point regardless.

He was a HS QB. He was a juco QB. And now he is at a D1 school playing QB.

All the ATH tag means is that a guy could project at more than one position. Go back and look at all the guys you have signed with the ATH tag over the years. It doesn't mean they lack potential at their primary position.

You'll be better next year I'm sure. You may make a low tier bowl if the ball bounces your way, and you should be thrilled with that, as you should be most every year. <div>
</div><div>But you aren't going to beat us. History is on my side on that, in various categories....home field, better team usually wins, Mullen vs. Nutt. Comparions to us just won't work, we are just the better team right now.</div>
