We wouldn't have earned a Top 8 seed without him, and we probably won't win a championship without him, either. But Mac's last two starts have not ended well, and that's concerning. I really hope he gets his mojo working again. Not trying to add any more pressure, but I'd love to see this young man deliver a gem in the CWS finals. Go Dawgs!

The thing is, what other options do we have? It’s not looking likely that Cerantola or Fristoe will be given any kind of meaningful innings, and once you get past Bednar and Harding, we just don’t have many other cards to play at this point.

I guess maybe there’s some chance that Lemonis tries to let someone else start and then bring Macleod in for a relief appearance, but I just can’t imagine not seeing him again. Give him a short leash, fine, but he’s been good a lot more than he’s been bad this year

Unless you’re predicting us to get Friday and Saturday, I think you’re wrong. If we make the championship series, he will start a game.

Correct. If we get to the finals, Harding will probably not be available until Game 3 and if we have to play Saturday, you may not have Bednar for the finals at all.

MacLeod is 100% starting one of the first two games of the national championship if we get that far.

Christian really hasn’t had a good start since Bama,

so that is 4 bad outings in a row (Tennessee at Hoover, VCU I’m regional, Notre Dame in Supers, & last night.
I don’t think we win the CWS without a good outing from him though & I really can’t imagine a scenario where he doesn’t start a game if we are in the finals.

1. That Tennessee game doesn’t mean anything. Bednar and Sims were bad that day too.

2. He was excellent against VCU, we left him in one batter too long and that skewed his line totals a little.

3. Not great against Notre Dame but not just terrible. Better than he was last night.

Virginia was probably his worst start of the year but he’s not a lost cause. He has not been totally useless in the postseason, unfortunately just was really bad last night.

I’m rooting for MacCleod too. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the possibility of an injury or ailment. I haven’t seen any evidence yet but does he have something physically wrong that Lemonis isn’t talking about? Inflammation or such?

I was wondering that too...

Is his issue physical? Is it mental? Some talk about batters seemingly knowing what he was going to throw. Does he have some kind of tell on his pitches? All I know is the look in his eyes Tuesday was not good. He looked completely traumatized. Kind of a distant but sad and almost frightened look. He appeared like he would have rather been naked inside a hornet's nest than on that mound. I am definitely rooting for him. He was instrumental getting us here and it is going to be very difficult winning it all without him.
