It really did bother me somewhat this year on our total-adoption of white helmets. Its like we abandoned our maroon lids. And when we did don our bold-colored hat, it was the grossest version of a maroon helmet. I don't mind the gray face mask every now-n-then or even the maroon logo on maroon helmet (for some unknown reason)....but the gray single stripe down the center just capped it off with a crude punchline. Whoever pitched that design as our main maroon helmet just doesn't get it. I didn't have enough time today to mock-up my opinions for appropriate alternates....but I will!!!!! and of course Alternate Uni's ARE fun & cool when done appropriately . But My God.....did we really have to wear the white helmets SOOO much this year?? anyway, here's what i did today and I'll finish up this little project pretty soon with alternate colored helmet/jersey/pants & appropriate reasons in which to wear them.

This is the right answer, but white pants with maroon tops with maroon and gray piping is also acceptable. I think it’s been 23 years with we’ve seen that combo with the helmet pictured above

Like everything but the banner logo. It was designed as an alternate logo and somehow has become primary for uniforms. Let’s go to “State” and we’re good to go. Problem with including Mississippi in the banner is that people may associate us with Ole Miss and all of their embarrassment.

The banner logo is not going to change. It wasn't designed as an alternate logo, it was designed as our basketball logo and a few years later we adopted it as our only logo. The only good think Polk did in his 2nd stint as our coach was veto using it for baseball, which was Templeton's original plan.

Edit: I thought you were referring to the M-State logo, but realize you were talking about the Mississippi State banner on the jersey. Either way, that's not going anywhere either.

These are good tweaks to an already solid uniform design. The new white helmets don’t bother me, but the M/M/Gray combo is the best uniform ever worn by State.

I’d like to see some Sleepy Robinson era throwbacks with the STATE on then jersey and the block interlocking MSU helmets.

My thoughts exactly before I read your post. Lose the "Mississippi" part of the woodmark, and just go with a bigger "State" banner.

Change the gray pants to white pants. Last I heard our colors are maroon and white-not maroon and gray. Everything else I agree with.

Maroon top with gray pants/maroon helmet is my favorite uni, I don't mind mixing in the white pants either. On the road we need to go all white with maroon helmet or the gray pants....I like what you have created...

I like the all white look, otherwise stick with Maroon helmets. I like moving to just STATE on the jersey. We have already started branding some stuff like that.

If you get time would you make a matte maroon helmet with white S T A T E letters on it curved to the top like LSU's? I'd like to see how it looks, and have a new avatar. And I'd like to see it or the old MSU on the helmets. When I use to design team uni's the banner logos were cheapest and most used for some reason across the country in the catalogs. Due to that experience I guess I've never liked our banner M logo. To me, if we can't use the old interlocking MSU, I'd love to see us go to a S T A T E logo on helmet.

With my great fashion expertise***, I would prefer the natural gray facemasks. On the home unis, this would make the white logo and number stand out more. Everything else looks good.

Get rid of the black. Get rid of the silver/gray. Get rid of the 17'in GOLD. Get rid of "M State". Do whatever you want to with stripes, and Maroon & White.

This photo is a good example of why I’m not a fan of the all white look - the helmet looks cream next to the bright white jerseys. It’s not just us - Texas and others have the same problem when they wear their “stormtrooper” look. M/W/G is our best road look in quite a while

Second: I’m older than dirt. I’ve been a State fan since the Shira days. Every time we really, really suck at football, we’ve worn white helmets. See Shira and Croom. I associate white helmets with football hell. Get rid of them.

The only time I can go for white helmets is when we play TAMU and they are wearing Maroon headgear (or other Maroon helmeted teams). I could see that as helpful to the players.

You can always do what BYU does. They just have two colors but they use a variation of the size of their stripes. Looks clean and good!

Bama and LSU don't need to change uniforms to recruit players. Programs like MSU might as well. It definitely doesn't hurt recruiting.

it certainly does look pink on the helmet, but that chrome M-state doesnt match the other maroon. its more of a croom era maroon...so pinkish crimson.

i agree that mwg is the best, but i dont mind the all white look. its auburn-esqe, but its grown on me. a bunch of teams have problems matching their helmet color with jersey color. thats just the nature of different mediums and materials, but i agree its not spot-on. the white helmet with maroon jersey is trash.

Color scheme in Chillbilly's proposal is great.

Can we have a discussion about switching logos to our most recognizable one instead? For the record, I'd prefer a solid maroon hat and no outline on the stacked MS. We should've made this happen years ago. Compared to the M-State banner POS, this is fantastic.

Agreed. There are plenty of reasons to alter a uniform, like the one u mention. I was trying to think of one of the times this year when i was like, "'U serious?, theres rabsolutely no reason to wear white hats this weekend!" ----Tenn game maybe?

We're leaving money on the table by pushing the BASKETBALL LOGO on the helmets rather than the "baseball logo."

But if the Flying M-State it is, this is the best version I've seen in years--back to early Mullen era.

Honestly, who makes the decision on our logo use? The school or adidas? And who do we need to talk to to plead our case on incorporating the baseball logo into our football uniforms?
