46-14 Final. Bulljive pass interference call on Magna Vista to give GW their final TD. Danville fans are so quick to give excuses but my post last week stands. GW Football as we once knew it is long gone. 1-4 after going 3-6 last year (two of those wins came from poor Tunstall and Patrick County). Danville should be greatly embarrassed to what our once proud program has come to.
This was a humbling loss. There is a disconnect. And it is frustrating as hell to watch.
Appreciate your positivity and love you give our guys. Very humbling loss tonight. Just 4 years ago, GW beat Laurel Park 70-0. Those same kids returned the favor tonight.
Very sad state of affairs. The City Council with oversight of DPS and DPS/City School Board should be ashamed of themselves. The football program at GW is just a symptom of the rot and incompetence from leadership above.
Cut you called this back in 2014, right before GW matched up with Salem. For years I’ve debated you but you were right. Is the problem fixable? I don’t know at this point. New athletic director, a new principal every time you blink your eye, the continuation of recycling the garbage they have on the city council and school board, just voted the most miserable city to live in Virginia. Just turned to ****.
Not happy even being in the ballpark of right on this. Sadly, I think I was arguing this well before 2014 and just had no concept of how much worse it could get.
I have commended @ChuckVipperman over the years for what he does for the program and kids and he warrants special thanks again for hanging on with where things are now. Anything can be fixed but, whether it can is a different question than whether it will.
While it may not seem like it to fans there are bigger problems that must be fixed than the GW football program and casino money while a resource is only as good as the people making allocation and spending decisions. The situation is bleak, IMO, absent significant and substantive change from the top all the way down.
