McGuire went down in the first half of game vs Bassett. Not sure if he can play this week or not, with him MV is a state contender - without him it will be a tough game vs Cave Spring this week.

I agree. Hopefully, the other guys will keep their heads up and realize that they must come together and play hard to continue this great season. No doubt Shoalin McGuire is a great offensive leader, but Magna Vista has once again become a great team and program over the past 6 years. With that in mind, the Warriors should be fine. The HOLE will be very loud Friday night against Cave Spring. Should be a great game.

Who is the backup?

Do they have a backup QB or will they move one of their other starters under center? That is a big loss for MV. What's the injury? I think they'll be too athletic for Cave Spring regardless of the QB but without McGuire this could be a 21-14 game instead of a 35-14 game. Good Luck to both teams.

Re: Who is the backup?

Tra Redd is their backup QB. Speed, strength, and a little more speed. Not sure what his arm is like but with those receivers, they can still hurt you on short passes. I have no doubts that there will be ZERO drop off from McGuire to Redd. Wish McGuire a SPEEDY recovery.

Re: Who is the backup?

Not sure of the injury, I heard he took a hard lick below the knee with a helmet. Traveon redd is the backup, plays safety. Hes faster than shoalin, but shoalin has the edge with the passing game.. its gonna be hard to replace that chemistry between shoalin and the receivers and the center.. several times Friday the hikes were too high. With a good week of practice traveon should be ok, but deep into the playoffs I think MV will need shoalin..
