Not the biggest BG fan, but I hope this is partially because he has committed behind closed doors to stay at UK. Would suck if we loose out on Magoon and BG enters the portal.

Magoon had several options other than UK and wanted tot go though the process. Ultimately he chose to stay home and get paid. Good for him, bad for us. I do respect the decision he made and am glad he did not go to a competitor.
Garrison as our starting center is a scary thought.

Our money situation must be really bad compared to other top teams. Pope's offense should attract players not send them running the other direction.
I really think it's the only explanation for stuff like this. Pope runs a fun system, everyone seems to love him, this team all said they loved it here. The only missing piece that jumps out is the NIL, even though people keep saying it's good. And UNC's is supposed to be pretty bad, so if there's can be there's zero reason ours can't be in a similar spot.

And it seems like in the beginning everyone said all this NIL spending would come crashing down to earth after a few years, but so far it the numbers just keep going up. If our NIL was good last year or the year prior that doesn't mean it's good currently if we haven't kept up.

One of my best friends runs the SDSU NIL. They did everything possible to keep him but thought he was likely to leave. Relationships and late funds coming in ended up prevailing here.

How are we getting outbid by San Diego Freaking State? Ain't no way

Again, this is why I don't love the "insiders" doing the "done deal" talk, because things can and will fall through. Just setting unrealistic expectations and making things harder than they need to be for the staff.

A committment from the Indiana forward that seems like a bad fit will not inspire much confidence, and I think that's coming next. I'm willing to see how this all plays out, though.

We may very well end up fine, but I think this will be looked at as an impactful miss. He seemed to be a perfect fit for our offense and is an elite defender to boot.
We HAVE to try for elite rim protection….there is no way you watch that Bama/Duke game and think anything other than…”wow if you stop teams from getting layups, it’s REALLY hard for them to hit enough perimeter shots to beat you.” Pope’s system requires either elite shooting or elite passing from the Center and that really really hard to find with a rim protector.

I hate that it is like we all were played, Its not our staffs fault, but an agent or someone was bullsh*tting big time, things dont go from done to nope that fast. But , what I saw from Moreno , I'm perfectly fine with him, Folgers and god please Yaxel, at that point Garrison can stay and get their mop up minutes if he wants . I wanted Magoon but not really that much for this coming year, it was his upper classmen year/s that I wanted, who knows we might be able to still get that but after this upcoming season.
