Mainieri calls us bush league.

and it's not the first time someone has pointed this out. Not only do I hate losing, especially to LSU, but I especially hate losing without class. I could probably handle winning without class, though.

He better get all of this type stuff under control. In baseball, to be labeled bush league is a kiss of death. It is like having the plague. Recruiting will be a little harder when everyone is telling recruits what a bush league bunch MSU is.

very, very bush league of our staff. It is sad when we have to resort to this type of gargabe to try and win baseball games.

1) I have to agree with Mainieri
2) This jives with some of the criticisms I heard of Cohen back before we hired him from people within the baseball program. That his teams were into a lot "little league" behavior. They didn't doubt that the man could coachhitting or that his teams were good, they didn't like stuff like that. (NOTE: just repeating what I heard, not making a judgement. Don't shoot the messenger.)

1. you are good friends with Tyler Russell.
2. you are "in the know" with college baseball coaches.

Did I miss anything?

These are two awful teams that are going nowhere. I wish MSU would take the last two so that Mainieri can pull the scholarships of all the pitchers and go find kids who can throw the ball over the plate. I am amazed at the steady decline of Ott, Renaudo, and the rest of those overrated losers.

he could have been hollering at our guy to stay at second. That said I have to admit that nothing would surprise me with this staff.

But I do know a few people who were involved in the baseball program at that time and that's what they said. Again, just repeating what I heard, not saying anything else.

And yes, I know Tyler. But I fail to see what your point is there.

oh, and <17> LSU and anyone associated with them.
okay, after reading more about this. A coach did it? That makes things a little different. My previous point still stands, though.

from what I remember he got face to face with another coach and cohen had to come out and seperate them. They didn't do much besides yell **** at each other.

If this were a series where the winner was first place in the West or something like that, everybody would probably be on Mingione's side, or at least not as vocal against it. He was trying to win an important game and was using every possible situation to his advantage.

However, the team has sucked for months now, and when people are already sick of your ****, everyone is going to pile on when you pull a douche move. At this point in the season, I'd say the possible benefit of a botched play is not worth all the bitching and grief that comes with it.

to distract an opposing player shooting ft's? Give me a break, Mainieri is pissed because he has done less with more over the last 15 games, so he's got to call attention to something or someone else. If the LSU kid didn't know where to go with it before the ball was even in play or was second guessing where to go with it, that's coaching. So what if he yelled 2, no one knows who he was yelling at anyway. It has been a miserable, to say the least, season, but to jump on the band wagon of an LSU coach who is struggling to win with their talent is pretty ridiculous.

in the NBA actually, he was throwing a towel in the air. This is the same board who crushed Arod for running across the mound, this is much worse. But come on, he was known for this type stuff at Kentucky, it's not a surprise.

too many unwritten rules, but affecting the game during play is total bush league by a coach. If a player did it I'd have no problem with it.

... shooting FT's.

And what he did last night was much worse than Arod running across a pitchers mound to get back to first, yet some of you killed him for that while you are defending our dumbass coach from yesterday. That makes a lot of sense. I liken what happened yesterday to what Arod did in Toronto a couple of years ago when even his own teammates came out and said they didnt agree with it.

SECTION 50. The act of an offensive player, umpire or nongame person who
interferes with; physically or verbally hinders; confuses; or impedes any fielder
attempting to make a play.

c. Base coaches may address only their team members.
The fact he actually admits it is horrible.

Followed by 7 pages of stupid.
Who expected anything less from LSU fans?
(and example #5201 of why I could never coach: if that LSU fan didn't use an anonymous e-mail account, I know a certain somebody who would get put on every MSU-related e-mail list I could find. Plus special offers for Scandinavian pr0n. Because I'm classy like that)
Plus, since as it turns out this is one of those rare "written" rules of baseball, shouldn't their beef be with the always-in-the-know SEC umpires, too?
Geez, think how mad they'd be if we actually won.

The cut off man sets himself up based on where the next throw will likely be, and he adjusts his angle based on where the call from the infield is telling him to go. He can't see the play behind him because it is behind him. The infield screams 2, 3, or 4 to tell him where to go so that he can focus on making the catch and making the immediate relay without having to turn around and find the runners first. If the game meant something to you, and another coach did it to MSU, you'd be ticked about it.

yelled at the 3rd baseman while running the bases "I got it" to try an simulate the SS calling him off on a pop-up. That was total bush league and what our coach did last night would be in the same category. I won't defend this action at all because I remember how totally pissed I was back in 91 when we essentially lost to Bama in football sitting at the 6 inch line because we got an illegal procedure call due to Bama defenders barking out the snap signals. There is NOTHING admirable about winning with those kind of tactics.

Agree. It's similar to a defense barking out signals in football. Powe did it against Vandy, and eventually they called him for it I believe. It's something you don't do.

that we have a coach that would pull the 2-2-2-2!! stunt and then admit to an opposing fan in an email.

Almost impossible for me to believe we've got somebody that stupid on the payroll. But, if we do, somebody has to go.
