If you live in the red shaded area I implore you to stay weather aware today. This is setting up to be a significant outbreak of tornadoes and some will be violent and long tracked.

Hey, if you don't mind my asking. What radar app are you using now? Since the NWS screwed theirs up it has also messed up the app I've been using for years. I haven't been able to get the storm velocity loop anywhere.

My phone all is RadarScope. $9.99 one time cost for the base package and worth every penny. For another $9.99/yr you can upgrade to pro tier 1.

Thanks. I had read the new NWS changes had messed them up too. Glad to know it's working. Downloading it now.

A TOR CON 9 basically from I-20 north is dangerous to say the least. This is not sounding good at all!

I gotta tell you.....if you live in Birmingham and around that area, latest model runs have not been kind to you. It's gonna get bad here, but this storm is gonna whip Alabama like Clemson wishes they could.

I legit wonder if somebody at the NWS is getting kickbacks from weather app developers. It's the only fathomable reason for them turning that wonderful radar site to utter crap.

I don't think it does. That was a generational setup.

But to quote James Spann, if you get hit by a tornado, that's your 4/27/11.
Fair enough. I was living on the coast so it didn't affect me, but I remember people knowing these things (not the warnings, the actual tornadoes on the ground) were coming for a couple hours that day. Paul Finebaum was on the radio and they were talking about taking cover as it was headed toward them before Tuscaloosa. That's the upside I guess, if there is one.

The sun is out over central MS this morning. Absolute worst case scenario.

45% hatch just released. Nothing has changed if anything it is a bit worse than last nights models.

Dangerous situation that will probably wait till later to start and continue after dark which is even more dangerous.

What is the timing for the weather to be coming through Starkville for those of us that have students there?

I guess they expect it to get bad here in central South Carolina tomorrow. My daughter's school, Lexington District 1, just sent out an alert that all classes will be Elearning tomorrow.

Side OT: I use Radarscope Pro Tier 2 on my phone and GR Level 3 on my computer. Why is the resolution (of the same radar data) so much higher on radarscope than that of GRLeveliii?

It is so nice to have such resources available at your fingertips even it its just a run-of-the-mill weather app. I remember as a kid around the early 70s the only severe weather info you got were those scratchy, static-y, audio only announcements delivered in an ominous monotone from the national weather service that sounded like they were being delivered from an underground bunker during the apocalypse. No maps, no radar, just maybe a report of where a storm was spotted and the general direction it was travelling. Used to scare the ever loving feces out of me.

I remember those days and that little NOAA device with the one huge button and antenna. It cracked me up to hear the various voices come across and their unique pronunciations of MS cities and counties. I must have heard Belzoni pronounced 8 different ways.

Just doesn’t feel like tornado weather in central AL today.
Been cloudy all day and only about 67* now at 1:45 PM
Don’t see any signs of the sun coming out and fueling this thing too much here. Hope not anyway.

Great video. Thing was moving fast.

For those that recommended the radarscope app, thanks. It worked great.
