Smh....I will withhold my judgment on the situation but winning over Malik's father will make or break this recruiting project. Saying he is intense, is a gross understatement. Malik never seemed phased. He has the IT.
How can the entire state not produce a couple teams and coaches that can play quality basketball? Why don't the AD's higher coaches who know how to teach fundamental quality ball from out of state? Youth basketball and high school basketball in Mississippi is pathetic for a state that produces extreme athletes left and right.
The real question for me is why don't coaches take advantage of this? Just develop a fundamentally sound program and you'll win in MS. Why do they just keep trying to "out-athlete" the other guy? Provine and Callaway would get beat by the top 30 teams in Indiana. It's like they just want to produce the next Monta Ellis instead of playing team basketball.
The AAU circuit has ruined basketball in my opinion. There is basically no coaching, just a "watch-what-I-can-do" philosophy.
Horatio is listening now that Stansbury is gone. He wouldnt even consider it before this season. Still a longshot- but at least we are in the game now. Richard Williams stepping in in an advisory role is bridging some gaps and mending some fences
Comparing mhsaa and mais is like comparing a bowling ball to a starfish....should not be mentioned in the same breath. The real reason, MsHighschool basketball suck....its the same answer to the question, Why cant MS education improve? MAIS. Yep. I said it. The reason these schools formed....hate. As a Mississippian, I am embarrassed. Are we the only state to still have two seperate leagues? These public schools would be better if they were more diverse.
Believe me, it will get dirty!
