I was really looking forward to Malzahn going to Vandy fora couple ofreasons.

1. AU wouldn't have him. I think Malzahn is a bigger reason for AU's success than Chizik.

2. Malzahn to Vandy would mean only 1 team in the west and 2 teams in the SEC would be running the Spread Option. You would have to assume that Muschamp isn't going to run it in FL and AU's new OC wouldn't be running it. With only us and Vandy running it, you would see teams spending less time in preparation for it, which would result in us having more success with it. Oh well.

I think it was probably more like 1.5-1.7 with crazy incentives to get to 3mil/year. Incentives that could probably never be acheived at Vandy (SECE Championship, SECCG appearance, etc)

I'll be laughing my *** off if AU tanks over the next few years and he's waiting in line for a Sun Belt job.

Now the "Malzahn to stay at Auburn" reports are everywhere, all conveniently citing "sources close to the situation."

Even if Auburn tanks and he ends up with a Sun Belt job, you can win in the Sun Belt and get to bowl games. It's almost impossible to do that at Vandy.4 bowl games in Vandy's entire school history.

Dooley came from La Tech, a small WAC school, and boom, now he's the HC at Tennessee. You can go to a small school and win and get a good job.I would rather go to a Sun Belt school for my first HCjob than go to Vandy for my first HC job. Vandy is a dead end job, and it's the toughest in the NCAA. Not the place to start your HC career if you ask me.

Vandy is a TOUGH gig. There are TONS of disadvantages coaching there in this league. Malzahn is getting a pretty hot name now and I can certainly see him holding out for a better situation than Vandy to start out his Head Coaching career.

6-6 should be attainable at Vandy with a good coach.<div>
</div><div>Schedule some cream puff OOC teams. That gets you to four games. You have the Bears every year. You can pull off an upset or two against the rest of the SEC. Pretty soon he'll have bigger programs knocking on his door with 3MM+ offers. In the mean time he'll be pulling down 1.5MM a year. Unless Auburn can raise his salary to the 1MM range, it's not worth it to stay. He'd probably have to take a pay cut to go to a Sun Belt team.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm not expecting anything until Malzahn himself speaks. It's all echo chamber right now.</div>

And they don't know **** about how to schedule right. They play UConn next year, then both Northwestern and Clemson in 2013 and 2014.
