Good luck to whom? Mal at Vandy or Chizik having to actually having to become a coach?

I think his style offense is the only style offense that can keep Vandy competitive with the rest of the SEC. If he can get Vandy bowl eligible in 3 years, it would be huge for his career. If he can't, he basically ruined his career because it's very tough to rebound from a bad HC debut.

As soon as Cam declares for the NFL, then that shouldseal up the win for us on the Plains next season. Graduation of 24 seniors + loss of Heisman qb + loss of offensive guru= Dawgs win at Auburn in 2011.

I was referring to Malzhan because nobody's been able to win at Vandy. Bobby Johnson was the best Vandy coach of my lifetime and is record there was 29–66 (12–52).

What a price they paid to the devil for a NC this season. It's tainted by the prospect of wrong-doing and then they lose a majority of what got them the NC. Not that I wish any ill will, but it will be a delight to see a humbled fanbase of theirs next year.

This is really good news. If I was a Bears fan I would be shitting a brick.

First Mullen to MSU, then Nutt with the extension/raise and keeping of all his assistants and now Vandy getting Malzahan. Only thing that can hurt worse is getting burned in recruiting by us and LSU this season and losing next season to all three aGAIN.

Depending on how much they pay the guy, this could go down as a really great or dumb move. I like the guy's offense. Recruits like it. It's creative and evens the playing field to some extent. You still need to have some play makers though. Can Vandy recruit those with their admission standards to give the offense a chance to succeed? We'll see. You almost have to think that Vandy's best chance at winning is running the hell out of some GA Tech style option ball. Speed the game up by never letting the clock stop.

Props to Vandy though for giving the appearance that they actually give a **** about football now...

It should be interesting to watchtheir house of cards crumble down next season. If the NCAA/FBI investigation starts to really produce fruit, then there will be more rats jumping off the sinking ship. Chizit (sp?) just looks like a perfect "fall guy" to me.

If he was smart he would go ahead and start at Vandy..... Be interesting to see what that would do to Aub offense in bowl game.

The rats are running for their lives. I can think of 20 options available to Malzahn that make more career sense than vandy.

If he starts his new jobimmediately and is absentin Auburn's bowl preparation, that would be significant.I'm still not sure if itwould be enough to give Oregon a legit shot at winning the MNC, but I can only hope. It would be justice if Auburn loses the NC game after basically gambling their future on winning it all this year.

Malzahn is not an idiot. He knows how stacked the deck will be against him at Vandy. Yet he flees at first chance.

They could have easily hired Malzahn. Recruiting would have become very difficult if there was a Malzahn offense in Oxford.

It only takes two things for a small private school to be successful; money and lower academic standards. They've figured out the money thing.

They could pull a Miami/SMU move and dominate. As long as they don't get caught!

and I'm guessing he'll be making 1 mil this season. What will be intersting is to see if he can recruit a QB there to run his offense...and I mean run it effectively.

to make your comparisons apples to oranges.

I doubt very seriously kiehl frazier has the, um, "ability" to gain entry to vanderbilt.

out for Malzahn. Get 3 mil a year on a 7 year deal with the bottom of the boat blowing out of Auburn. I don't see how he goes wrong on this. Am I missing something....????

I don't believe that they are paying 3 million a year though. Maybe they are. Who knows.

This is a good fit because Vandy needs a system. They will never be able to attract top flight talent. They are like a service academy in the fact that they have smarter, more disciplined players who will do what a coach tells them to. I don't know how well Malzahn handles players but I do know that 6 years ago the guy was coaching high school football in bum *#%% Arkansas.

Downside is that they compete with the SEC. But Gus will find them a QB and they will be competitive.

Not only do you keep around a coach that obviously has the program moving in the wrong direction, but you lose the opportunity to hire a coach that has a good chance to be a program changer AND you have to play against said coach every year. Wow.

I hope everyone employed at that place stays there until they are way past retirement age.

...in addition to Northwestern and Duke. Something tells me he has the academic side down if those programs are offering...
