She Mate Me said:I wanna see where you go with this when you really reach your boiling point. You might have to go to church twice tomorrow by the time we get through. Or maybe you will just to know what you're talking about?
I was certainly being a bit of a smart *** about preachers, but I would really like to know why, in my experience in many churches and on television, baptist preachers all talk very similarly from the pulpit (and pronounce Jesus as if it had three syllables)? Honestly, I have always wondered if they are taught this particular diction at seminary.
I don't know. Why do most Southerns talk the same? Why do most Brits have a funny accent?
Also, sure everyone is a hypocrite and not perfect. What rubs me raw about many preachers, is they should be held to a higher standard, and they are oftentimes much worse than average when it comes to morality. I am certainly not speaking of the many genuinely good ones out there. But the guy in this video simply strikes me as one of the others. If only because he brought this woman on this video, without vetting her in any way prior to her appearance. She has nothing of use to say to anyone and has no business being on stage. Her credentials are apparently that she is married to a workaholic who likely loathes her.
Again, I don't know. Don't know the guy. To play devil's advocate (pun intended) neither of us know the complete premise of the video nor meeting. I do agree she doesn't seem to serve any purpose in a Christian frame of reference at all. You don't know anything about the guy to judge what he's like either. You just took the video and made a call on him that isn't any different than judging a person by the color of their skin. LASTLY, preachers are no different than regular people. Yes, they should be held to higher standards, but that doesn't mean they're going to do that anymore than politicians do.
By the way this is way more of a Christian thread than a sports related thread to me. She happens to be a football coach's wife, but she is talking to a preacher on a Christian video.
For the record, you are the one who brought preachers into this...
Have a great day!
